CEGA POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION

The Andean Geothermal Center of Excellence (CEGA) at the Department of Geology,

Universidad de Chile (www.cega.ing.uchile.cl), invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in

Hydrogeology (numerical modeling, reactive transport models and geothermal reservoirs

simulations).

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in collaboration with other

researchers from the Center in the fields of hydrogeology, hydrogeochemical and numericalsimulations of geothermal reservoirs. The postdoctoral researcher will develop and apply

hydrogeological models to (1) simulate and understand the factors controlling the spatio-

temporal changes within geothermal reservoirs, (2) predict reservoir behavior under different

case scenarios, and assess the validity and uncertainty of these predictions, and (3) establish

models such that they are able to provide the support needed by decision-makers to promote a

sustainable usage of geothermal reservoirs.

In addition to this, the postdoctoral researcher should present research results at scientific

meetings, produce manuscript and submit to high quality peer-reviewed journals. Excellent

written and oral communication skills in English, ability to work independently and mentor

undergraduate students are expected. Working knowledge of Spanish language is desirable and

will be considered a plus.

Candidates are required to hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of application. Applications are

invited from highly motivated individuals with advanced training either in engineering,

hydrogeology, geochemistry (or a related discipline), and a genuine interest in low temperature

geothermal systems.

This is a full time position starting July 2016. The position is fully funded for a two year term

with the possibility of renewal for up to one additional year based on satisfactory job

performance. Applications must be received by May, 31st
