To create the circuit drawing:
• Insert and orient all the symbols in the drawing.
• Insert an envelope.
• Insert ports on the envelope and create connections.
• Insert and connect components outside the envelope.
• Assign model codes to all the symbols.
• Insert page outline and title block.
• Create Parts List, Port Chart, and Net List.

Start HyDraw. It will open a new drawing.

Demo Library
Select the Demo library from the HyDraw Library Explorer. This will now be the default
library for this drawing.
The Demo library is provided with the evaluation version of HyDraw, it has a limited
number of symbols and some component data has been entered.

Insert the first component into the drawing. For example, component 5, which is a
direction control valve.
Traverse the menu and click the Spring Centered tree item.

and change it to 5.

The Direction Control Valve symbol is inserted with a lot of text attributes.
To view these attributes, select the Direction Control Valve symbol and click the Edit
Properties button. The HyDraw Property Manager will display.

When we insert a symbol without selecting its model code, the symbol is inserted with
blank model code values.

the Check (Valve) tree item.

Note that the Check Valve was automatically assigned a component ID of “6”.

Insert component 8, Needle Valve – Screw-in Cartridge into the drawing by searching for
the NV1220A0N model code in the component database.
Enter the first few letters of the Model Code search options and click the Search for Model
Code button.

select copy.

Use the Envelope button to draw an envelope around the inserted symbols.

The envelope is inserted in the drawing. It is also allocated a default component ID.
Change the component ID to 3.
Once the envelope is inserted, you can move its location by selecting and dragging it or
by stretching one of its sides.

On releasing the mouse, the Port icon is inserted automatically on the envelope line and
the Pressure Line connection is created.
Notice, the Red connection square changes to a black dot on port P of component 5.
This change in color indicates that the connector is connected properly to the port.

When the port is inserted, it is inserted with its name as “?” by default.
Double click “?” to change it.
The port is inserted with its attributes as blank.
Later, we will see how to fill these attributes automatically from the HyDraw Library.

Pivot Point is designated by a green dot.
Move segments of the connection by dragging its pivot point to its new position.

The External Port inserted on the envelope line remains attached to the envelope line.
When you drag the port to move it, it will only move along the envelope line.

Insert the next connection.
Connect port 1 of component 4 to the
Pressure line. Click the Pressure line icon
on the HyDraw toolbar.
Click near port 1 of component 4, drag
the other end of the line to the Pressure
line. The cursor snaps to the Pressure
line.
When you release the mouse, you will
notice that the kink in the connection
automatically disappears when the
connection line is drawn.

Connect port 2 of component 7 to port A
of component 5.
Then, select component 5 and drag it
such that the connection becomes
vertical.
Or
Use left or right keys on the keyboard to
move the object. Use the Shift key to
make finer movements.
The cursor shape changes in the
Connection Drawing mode.
Click the Pointer tool on the Visio toolbar
to return to the Normal command mode.

To move the component ID balloon,
select the component and drag the
yellow pivot point to the desired location.

If you do not see the yellow pivot point
on selecting the component, click the

Complete the other connections in the drawing using the Pressure Line connection type.

Change the Connection line type to Pilot by clicking the Pilot button, which is violet in
color.
Connect all the Pilot lines.

Connect all the Tank lines.
Jumpers are drawn automatically when two connection lines cross each other.

Let us now complete the rest of the circuit.
Insert the symbol of the Tank from the Library menu.
Notice, the inserted Tank symbol has a balloon and a component ID allocated to it.
Ensure that these are not included in the Parts List.

Select the Tank symbol, and click the Edit Properties icon.
The HyDraw Property Manager displays.
Uncheck the Include in Parts List check box.
The balloon and component ID disappears from the Tank symbol.

Insert the rest of the components and create the appropriate connections to complete the
circuit diagram.

In the completed circuit diagram, notice the External Port symbol.
Replace the Plug symbol by Plugged Plug Port symbol.

Open the Library Explorer, and click on the External Port Library tab.
Select the plug to be replaced and check the Replace symbol check box.
Drag and drop the Plugged Port symbol over the existing port symbol in the drawing.
The symbol of the plug is replaced by a Plugged Port symbol.

Now, assign model codes to all the inserted symbols.
Close HyDraw Library Explorer and open HyDraw Property Manager.
This allows you to maximize the drawing space.

Let us start with the Check Valve, component 6.
To find and include the model code of the check valve, select the Check Valve and
click the Fetch button.

To refine the search, select SUN
Hydraulics from the list of
manufacturers and click the Search

Let us now find the model code of the Direction Control valve using the design
requirements.
Since the valves require a minimum flow of 8 gpm and 3000 psi pressure, enter these as
design requirements.
This requirement is saved with the component.

If the circuit designer wants to attach a special note to this valve, then you click the
Note icon and write a text note, which is saved with the component on clicking OK.

Manager.
Notice, the design requirement values are pre-entered in the dialog box.

Select the Direction Control Valve and click Fetch in the Accessories section.
The Fetch Accessories from Library dialog box displays.
Select Seal Kit as the component type.

You can add multiple accessories to any component.

library.
Model Code, Description, and Manufacturer can be entered in the HyDraw Property
Manager and saved with the symbol.

To assign properties to the external ports, select the port and click the Fetch button in the
HyDraw Property Manager.
The Fetch Port from Library dialog box displays.
Select the port type and port size, then click OK to transfer the model data to the port

The creation of a circuit drawing and allocation of model data of all components in the
circuit is now complete.
On the System tab of the HyDraw Property Manager, you can see all the components and
ports.
