Wirop Industrial Co.,Ltd was established in 1979 by Mr. Ben Chiu to satisfy the needs of wire rope fabrica-tors with industry specific fabrication, testing, handling machinery and accessories. Our modern factory is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and we have stocking warehouses and service facilities in the USA and Europe. Presently, we have more than 730 clients using our machines and products in 75 countries around the world. Since our inception, we have maintained favorable customer feedback worldwide. We manufacture hydraulic swaging machines with capacities from 30 tons through 4000 tons capable of swaging wire rope from 1 millimeter to 6 inches in diameter, a full range of swaging dies, tensile testing beds with capacities 50 tons through 3000 tons, annealing and tapering machines, recoiling machines, marking machines, auto-measuring & cutting machines and other related equipment. In addition to machinery, we also manufacture swage fittings for a variety of applications. We offer Flemish-eye steel sleeves from 1/4” to 6”, Aluminum ferrules in sizes #1 - #128, EN 13411-3 (DIN 3093) aluminum ferrules sizes #2.5~#60, and other swaging products of different kinds of material, i.e. copper, stainless steel, swage sockets and thread stud terminals. Wirop also has product lines of container seals, tie cables, bridge cables and structural cables.

In order to achieve this aim, we maintain an active Research and Development team dedi-cated to constant improvements. In fact, we are so con-fident that we would like to extend the industry’s best warranty on all of our hydraulic swaging presses. Our warranty is two tiered to provide optimal levels of support for your hydraulic swaging machines and includes these provisions:

1. Wirop provides a full machine warranty for the first year after delivery during normal operation and regular maintenance. During this period, the parts and labor will be covered by Wirop and be provided free of charge. In the unlikely event the swaging machine needs to be returned for repair, Wirop will pay all shipping charges.

2. Wirop provides a parts warranty for three years after delivery during normal operation and regular mainte-nance. During this period, the parts will be covered by Wirop and be provided free of charge.

The design concept for Wirop’s swaging presses is simplistic in that it has one main moving mechanical part—the piston. Viewing the diagram to the right, you can see that the press is designed with one large alloy cast steel frame, a large diameter piston that travels up and down, a bottom base, electro-hydraulic power unit and control panel. It would be difficult to get much simpler than that!

The key is using straight hydraulic force to generate the power to swage the fittings instead of using the leverage principle which requires many moving parts to generate an equal force. Wirop’s design allows for a longer service life with less maintenance saving you both time and money.

Pressure Control Knob allows the oper-ator to match the pressure of the swager to the size of the fitting being swaged. Match-ing the pressure to the swage fitting each cycle and not bringing the machine to its limit greatly extends the life of the hydraulic system and the mechanical components of the swager and dies.

Emergency Stop Button allows the op-erator to immediately stop the machine’s functions. To release, simply push in then turn. The button will spring back and reset.

Security Panel Cover prevents unau-thorized access to the inside of the control panel. A key is provided to the customer upon delivery.

Counter records number of operating hours on the machine to indicate when scheduled maintenance is due.

Main Power Switch and Power Lamp brings power to the machine and electron-ics. The lamp illuminates when main power is on.

Pump Start and Pump Stop buttons control hydraulic pump if main power is on.

UP and DOWN buttons allow the press to be operated manually from the control pan-el without using the foot pedal.

Industry Exclusive3 Modes of Operation

“Manu”or Manual: Press the Up or Down buttons on the control panel or use the foot pedal to control the Up or Down motion of the machine.

“A.R.” or Automatic Return: In this mode, the operator can engage the machine into the Up position to swage the fitting and when done, can take their finger off the button or foot off of the pedal and the machine will go down auto-matically. The distance the piston will go down depends on how the timer is set. More seconds means the piston will travel more before stop-ping. The operator must control this. This mode and feature allows the operator to reach down and grab another assembly to swage while the piston moves back down.

“Auto” or Automatic: This mode allows the piston to move up and down automatically. This can be a very handy feature when doing large quantities of smaller assemblies.

Having a certified electrician connect the hydraulic swage machine to the appropriate power supply and add-ing hydraulic fluid are the only steps required to get your press operational.

Many of the electrical controls on Wirop Swaging machines can be found at your local Automation and Controls store, and other parts are stocked by Wirop in the USA.

Design Advantages

Fast Flemish Swage system swaging is achieved with simple and controlled swaging steps, saving time and vastly improving productivity on Flemish-eye wire rope slings. The process is simple, effective and utilizes stan-dard carbon steel sleeves available from Wirop as well as other manufacturers. The after swage dimensions of the swaged sleeves are the same as the after swage dimen-sions of sleeves swaged with conventional methods.

This swaging system is not only faster and more effi-cient, but it greatly reduces the possibility of over or un-der swaging the sleeve. In the first swage step, the sleeve cannot be over swaged because of the precise notching of the die; the second step allows a controlled closing of the dies to slightly less than full closure whereby the third and final step allows full close of the dies. The end result is a nearly smooth round swaged sleeve without the usual “wrinkles” one gets from conventional swaging methods.

Conventional swaging methods swage a round carbon steel sleeve on the wire rope with repeated multiple clos-ing of the dies until the sleeve is completely swaged. This “multi-swage” system of swaging Flemish-eye steel sleeves on wire rope requires several die closures de-pending on the wire rope diameter. On rope diameters 1” and larger, two dies are necessary to swage the sleeve, requiring an extra die change. The total number of rec-ommended die closures for sleeves larger than 1” diam-eter can be as many as ten, five closures in the 1st stage die and five in the 2nd stage die.

In the Wirop Fast Flemish Swage system, not only are the number of swages minimized and simplified, over and under swaging are eliminated. Multi-swages on sleeves over 1” in size are greatly reduced from ten to three. Die changes from 1st open stage to 2nd taper is also elimi-nated as there is no need to swage in the open channel first.

Wirop “Fast Flemish Swage” system is currently available up to and including 2-1/2” sleeve diameters. Larger size capabilities are under development.

Design Advantages

Precise Die Notches flatten the sleeve into an oval shape. The die’s design prevents over swaging and prepares the sleeve to fit easily into the main die cavity to continue the Fast Flemish Swage process.

Fast Flemish Swage (FFS)

The Main Die Cavity resumes the swaging process by accepting the oval sleeve vertically. A short series of alternating presses and rota-tions complete the process. See the next page for detailed process information.

Step 6: Release the pressure from the swager and rotate the sleeve 45 degrees. Then close the dies completely. Once closed, release the pressure and check after swage dimensions. You have just finished swaging a Flemish-eye sling in a fraction of the time needed by using con-ventional swaging methods.

A variety of sensors including an RFID reader in the die holder and dies embedded with RFID chips allow the smart press to sense what dies are in the machine and if they are installed properly.

Wirop's Smart Press Swaging System is an innovative solution de-signed to achieve the goal of "Zero Defects." Using the latest in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and computer controlled machinery, the smart press is able to help the user select the correct dies and pressure in addition to issuing alerts for temperature, pressure and improper die installation. Monitor-ing these parameters and automati-cally adjusting the machine allows the Smart Press Swaging system to help prevent problems with swaging and extend the service life of your swaging machine.

Design Advantages

Sensors:Die Number sensor detects what die is currently installed in the machine, and adjusts pressure accordingly.

Pressure sensor detects how much hydraulic pressure is being exerted and stops the machine at the set pressure, and warns if the machine has exceeded the recommended pressure for the installed die.

Die Installation sensor detects if the die is installed properly to prevent damage to the press, die holders and dies.

Oil Temperature sensor warns if the oil temperature exceeds the normal operating range.

Operation Modes:Smart Mode allows the swaging pressure to be set automatically by detecting the die’s number installed in the die holder.

Conventional Mode allows the swaging pressure to be set manually if dies are not equipped with RFID chips. Temperature and die installa-tion sensors are still active to provide added safety.

Wirop manufacturers swage dies for all types of fittings from durable tool steel to exact specifica-tions, hardened and tempered, allowing long trou-ble-free service. The basic design permits rapid installation along with interchangeability.

The dies are designed in Wirop’s engineering de-partment which utilizes a variety of software and hardware to assist in research and design.

Once the dies have under-gone a thorough design and finite element analysis they are CNC machined, surface ground, and polished for pre-cise dimensions, consistency and maximum effectiveness.

How the Wirop Die System WorksThe Wirop die system was designed with effi-ciency, durability and versatility in mind. The main components of the die system are:

• The Die Holder is designed in a number of sizes to match the maximum force that a press can exert. The C-Frame and 2-Column swag-ing press die holders are denoted by letters A-F. Example: A 300 ton press uses Size “A” die holder, and a 1500 ton press uses Size “D” die holder. Other sizes are available for table-top and portable swaging presses.

• Die Adaptors act as an intermediary be-tween the die holder and the dies and are only used when the user wants to use smaller dies in a larger machine. The smaller, lighter weight dies are much easier to handle than their larger counterparts thus making it easier for the user to change dies. Versatility is gained by using die adaptors because you can use the same dies in a number of machine sizes. These adaptors allow for a lower number of total dies if your facility is equipped with more than one swaging press. In addition, if you decide to purchase a larger or smaller swaging press in the future, you can now share dies from one machine to another. Wirop die adaptors are also made to fit dies from other swaging press brands to prevent the need to purchase an en-tirely new set of dies when you decide to equip your facility with a Wirop swaging press.

• Dies, like the die holders come in a variety of sizes and configuration matched to the type of swage fitting for which they are intended. Some swaging processes require tapered dies that feature a uniform diameter die cavity that tapers down in the last portion to match the profile of the swage fitting. The Fast Flemish Swage (FFS) dies feature a notch to begin the FFS process and a tapered main die cavity to complete the process. Open channel dies have a uniform diameter die cavity through-out and are commonly used with swage sock-ets, aluminum ferrules and the first stage of a multi-stage swage process.
