Substantial Cost savings in block making and construction. Freelyavailable subsoil is used as the raw material. Hydraform blocks donot require costly burning. Transport costs are low since blockproduction takes place on site.

Benefits for the user of The Hydraform Building System

A major feature of the Hydraform blocks is that it is produced underhigh compression from subsoil, without the need for wood, gas orcoal to burn bricks. Hydraform Interlocking Dry-Stacked Block workhas less than one third the embodied energy and resultant CO2content than fired clay face or clay stock brick work. This results inthe blocks having a lower embodied energy content than clay firedbricks, resulting in a lower CO2 footprint making the Hydraformblocks more desirable for Green Projects.

Environmental Friendliness

Local communities can benefit from building with the HydraformMachine Range. They become active participants in the buildingprocess and a sense of awareness and pride is created within thecommunity. This also provides an opportunity for additional incomeand affords unskilled men and women a chance to empowerthemselves and learn new skills.

Training is conducted in theoretical and practical sessions. It is important to do assessment in order toascertain that the specific outcomes as set out in “Training Objectives & Outcomes” in the curriculumhave been achieved.Assessment is done in two aspects of the training namely theoretical and practical, keeping in mind thatthese two aspects are not separate from each other but interweaved throughout the training course.

Assessment Strategies:

At the end of the course the candidate is presented wit an “Academy Test”. The testconsist of 57 questions covering the full syllabus of the particular course. In order topromote cognitive stimulation the questions are presented as a “Complete thesentences” section as well as multiple choice section The test is stress-weighted interms of a time limit of 20 minutes in which the candidate needs to complete it.After the test have been completed and marked the results are given to the candidates. Aminimum of 75% needs to be achieved in order to receive certification. The test is thenreviewed in detail and very question which had a wrong answer is handled in detail.Reinforcement of the knowledge and skills is done in order to achieve the desiredoutcome.

Assessment Strategies:

Theoretical Assessment:Each theoretical session of the training course is supported by a practical session.During the practical sessions the candidates engages in hands-on implementation ofthe theory. This involves every aspect of the Hydraform System from material selectionto the final constructed dwelling. The lecturer demonstrates the procedure or process in terms of theory which have beenimparted and the candidates then apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills. The measures of success applied is directly determined by the product. If theapplication of the knowledge and skill was incorrect, it will result in the product beingof insufficient quality or standard. The lecturer observes the candidates while applying the knowledge and/or skill.Intervention occurs when necessary, applying corrective measures should the desirableresult and outcome not have been achieved. Reinforcement of knowledge and skill isdone in order to achieve the desired outcome.
