“Passage to India”

Lo, soul, seest thou not God’s purpose from the first? The

earth to be spann’d, connected by network, The races,

the neighbors, to marry and be given in marriage. The

oceans to be cross’d, the distant brought near,

The lands to be welded together.

“… the new nation’s promise to its people. The future beckons

to us. Whither do we go and what shall be our endeavor? To

bring freedom and opportunity to the common man, to the

peasants and workers of India; to fight and end poverty and

ignorance and disease; to build up a prosperous, democratic,

and progressive nation; and to create social, economic,

fullness of life to every man and woman.”

E very City has a story behind i t ’s name, so does hyderabad. Hyderabad was or ig inal ly known as Bhagyanagar, a c i ty which was founded by Sultan Muhammad Qul i of the Outub Shai dynasty. After Embracing Is lam, Bahamathi was rechr istened Hydermahal and as a natura l consequence, the c i ty got i ts second name, Hyderabad( l i teral ly, “the city of Hyder”) .
