Hybrid Network Unification

Enabling public cloud initiatives under full control while making the most of redundant

Public Cloud

• 2 service providers / 2 routers

• Active/Passive case

– The secondary network is only used if service is disrupted on the primary -all traffic backhauled via MPLS to the DC by default

• Active/Active case

– Policy Based Routing is used to direct a subset of the possible traffic flows to the secondary network

• With current technology, hybrid networks are under exploited

– PBR = a static approach, location-dependent –does not handle the time-varying quality of the link or layer 7 application classification of the traffic flows

• How will it mesh with other technologies: Visibility, WAN Optimization, QoS … ?

– How do you report on it?

– How do you control overall performance?

– How do you deal with variations in performance?

• Automatic configuration management

• Dynamically responds to real-world conditions

• Completely integrated with other critical technology for: – Visibility

– Control

– WAN Optimization

– QoS

Hybrid Network Unification benefits

• Guaranteed good application performance across the hybrid network [MPLS + Internet + Public Cloud]

• Improved business continuity

• Full usage of high speed, low cost links

• Localized Internet connectivity for high performance, but with full control and reporting for compliance

• Backup links become business links
