Mars 2018 NewsletterDear Parents A big thank you to all our friends who hosted our Valentine’s Day celebration! We really enjoyed all the yummy treats! This month will be a short month, but we have lots of exciting events to look forward to including a visit to ASPS (the school across the street) on the 8th, where the Grade 1s and 2s will participate in games that the Grade 8s have prepared, related to future careers they are interested in. There will be a movie night on the 23rd after the Break and a ‘Telling Tales’ Family Literacy evening on 27th. There will be a PA Day on the 2nd. We will be needing some empty kitchen paper towel rolls (not toilet rolls because they are too small) for the week of the 5th for an activity we will be doing. If you have any, please send them in with your child between now and then. Our new Show and Tell will begin on the 5th. I am asking the Star of the Day to bring in something from home that has a 3D geometrical shape (ie, can for a cylinder, a ball, a rubics cube, ice-cream cone, Kleenex box for rectangular prism etc.…) to accompany our geometry unit in math. Our curriculum expectations this month: Language: Continuing with retell (Fairy Tales and other fictional stories) Math: Geometry 2D and 3D shapes, Symmetry Science: Materials and Structures
We may not have much snow at the moment, but the field still gets wet and muddy. Please make sure your children have a change of clothes in their backpacks (socks, pants or leggings) in case they step in little puddles or fall in the mud. Unfortunately the office is not able to accommodate all the children who need to call home for dry clothes. We are running low on glue sticks and Kleenex again! If you feel you can send in one or both of these items with your child, it would be much appreciated. Wishing you all a very happy and restful March Break! Bonnes vacances! Madame Niamat
