The 2014-2015 Huntsville Community Chorus season can be summed up in three words:

GloryThanksgiving

Passion

What powerful words! They describe the highest moments of our lives. Choral singers understand these words well, for they know those moments of transcendence when the artistry of a musical ensemble seems to transport performers and audience to new heights of beauty and communication. Our season ahead will be filled with “glorious” and “passionate” sounds and experiences, as we sing from hearts filled with “thankfulness.” We hope you will join us for every one!

The joys of the holiday season will be enhanced by marvelous music from the HCC Chamber Chorale, Youth Chorale, and Children’s Chorale in the choral-friendly acoustics of Latham United Methodist Church. Two presentations will be offered that day—matinee and evening. Choose what works best for you. One of the joys that day will be the audience carol singing with the chorales!

The extraordinary season will be capped off with one of the masterpieces from the greatest of them all, Johann Sebastian Bach, as HCCA presents the virtuosic oratorio, The Passion According to St. John. Our Symphonic Chorus will be accompanied by professional orchestra in the beautiful acoustic of First Baptist Church in this Easter Saturday presentation.

Thanksgiving Music of Mendelssohn, Rutter, and PaulusNovember 21, 2014

First Baptist Church

HCCA Symphonic Chorus will be joined by our Youth Chorale and some of the finest brass players in the city to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with music of rich tonality and harmony. Selected highlights will come from Mendelssohn’s exquisite Psalm settings, Rutter’s magnificent Gloria along with his famous For the Beauty of the Earth, and three choral gems from contemporary American composer Stephen Paulus. This patriotic presentation highlights our

national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, which celebrates its bicentennial this year. We will recount the story of Francis Scott Key’s composition, along with several other noteworthy bits of Americana, as we celebrate “Old Glory,” our beloved symbol of national freedom, along with guests the Army Materiel Command Band and 1st Patriot Support.
