Game of chances-----------------------------------------------------------------Sydney,NSW | The Newcastle Hunters recorded their third straight victory with a 14-10 win over the Sydney Blues at Allianz Stadium. The game was tight with both sides not prepared to offer a great deal in attack and that left the game open to the side that would take their opportunities.

Sydney had the first chance when Justin Miller picked Luke Ogden at mid field. But Sydney failed to capitalised. Indeed Miller had a wonderful night with 3 picks all up. Yet the tale of the tape showed the Blues scored just 3 points of those turnovers. "Yeah, you have to make the most of your opportunities and we did not do that tonight. It was disappointing because I thought we were the better team. We played well. But we just did not translate that into points" Coach Graeme Eadie said.

Sydney did score first when Peter Harper on one of the few aggressive plays found Kevin Louisi streaking deep over the middle. The 86 yard pass play put them in front 7-0 and had the sell out crowd in raptures. That lead increased to 10 after Miller had his second interception and Mike Williams added a field goal as time expired for the half.

But the second half was Newcastle's. Eric Decker returned Louisi's compliment when we broke coverage down the left hand side. His battle with Miller was a highlight of the night. Deckers 73 yard touchdown swung the momentum right back in the Hunters favour. But they had to wait for a Sydney mistake and that came when Matt Smith fumbled the ball late in the third. A long Newcastle drive which had a tired SYdney defence on the back foot saw Jon Robinson come in and pound the winning score on the 10th play of the drive.

"We hung tough. We won the arm wrestle" Laurie Frier said looking impassive as ever after the game. He must be pleased as his team is on the rise whilst Sydney now must turn things around and quickly.
