C am p a t S h eep sto r, w h ere h is fellow -officers h a d do ne th e ir b es t to cheer h im u p a n d tak e h im o u t o f h im self. B u t alas! i t seem ed th a t, as soon as h e re tu rn e d to h is em p ty ho m e th e o ld anx ie ties over­w h e lm ed h im again.

M r. H o llin g w o rth was a D erb y sh ire m a n , b o rn in 1909 an d ed u ca ted a t B em rose S cho o l, D e rb y , a n d R ead in g U n iv e rs ity , w h ere h e to o k a deg ree in E n g lish , H is to ry an d L a tin . A fte r h o ld ­in g teach in g posts in E d in b u rg h , D o n cas te r an d S u d b u ry , S uffo lk , h e jo in ed th e S ta ff o f R .G .S . in 1945, w h ere , besides be ing a m em b er o f th e E ng lish S taff, teach in g u p to O rd in a ry L ev e l, he was H ea d m aste r o f th e Ju n io r School. H e th u s p layed a m ajo r ro le in th e life an d w o rk o f th e School. H e w as ex trem ely conscien­tiou s an d m eth od ica l ab o u t all h is S chool resp on sib ilities . H e was a firm an d resp ec ted figu re , even som ew hat aw e-in sp irin g to h is y o un ger pu p ils . H is co m p le te d ep en d ab ility an d efficiency in ta k in g charge o f th e first tw o y ear-g ro up s o f th e S chool was g rea tly a p p rec ia ted b y th e H ead m aste r. A fte r th e years o f his re ig n in th e ram sh ack le h u ts o f U p ly m e, w ith th e ju n io r School m u c h m o re sep ara ted th a n a t p re se n t fro m th e m a in S chool, it w as w ith m u c h satisfac tion th a t M r. H o llin g w o rth was ab le to re -se ttle h is charges in th e new ‘Ju n io r B lock’ in th e 1963 bu ild in g . M r. H o llin g w o rth served th e R .G .S , fa ith fu lly an d w ell fo r 26 years. H is loss w ill b e keen ly fe lt b y all m em bers o f th e S chool com m un ity .

W e w ere enco u raged to c lim b as n e a r as possib le to th e su m m it o f th e py ram id . T h is was th e key to person al satisfac tion an d a successfu l life.

A t th e com m em ora tio n serv ice, th e add ress b y th e R ev. J. C risp , V icar o f H ig h W y com b e, w as an in te re s tin g co n trast. C h ris t , he sa id , was h a te d fo r saying n o t th a t th e w o rld w as evil, b u t th a t it w as good. ‘A n d G o d saw every th ing th a t h e h ad m ad e , a n d b eh o ld , i t was ve ry g o od .’ So C h ris t saw good in pu b licans a n d harlo ts , w ho w ere co n d em n ed b y th e P harisees , w hose p o sition m ay have b een h ig h , b u t w hose goodness w as superficial. So m u s t w e see all th a t is go od in o thers.
