Humidification Overview• Humidity, What is it…
Air con • di • tion • ing, n. The process of regulating the quality,
temperature, HUMIDITY, and circulation of air in a space
enclosure.
Humidification Overview• Humidity, IAQ Relationship
• Ventilation can have a dramatic effect on the thermal indoor environment and quality of the air within a space.
• 15 CFM per person creates about one air change per hour in a space.
• It can cause high and low humidity levels.

Water Quality & Hygiene• Its in the water…
Why is water quality important?
• Three Key goals for the water treatment and Hygiene:
1. Prevention of fouling, scaling and media deterioration in the system.
2. Prevention of corrosion & dust from carryover of solid contaminants into the air flow
3. Hygiene - limitation of germs

Water Quality & Hygiene• Its in the water…
Hygiene:
The word Hygiene originates from Greek language and means:
Preservation of health:
Hygiene is an old concept related to medicine, as well as to personal and professional care practices related to most aspects
of living. In medicine and in home hygiene practices are employed as preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading
of disease.
Water Quality & Hygiene• Its in the water…
Bacteria: ▪ One celled micro-organisms, that can be found all over: in water, in air,
and our surroundings etc. ▪ Typical size between 0,2 µm and 50 µm. They can be spherical-, stick- or
spiral-formed.▪ Bacteria needs nutrient to be able to multiply.▪ Nutrients can come from carbon, light, nutrients content in water etc..▪ Some bacteria can double in 20 minutes under optimal conditions.

Common Practices to reduce
and remove water minerals:
▪ Water Softening
▪ Carbon Filtration
▪ Micro Filtration
▪ Reverse Osmosis
▪ Deionizing
Common Practices to
mitigate and control bacteria
in Water:
▪ Chemical Treatment
▪ UV Light
▪ Silver or Copper Ionizing
Advance Adiabatic Technologies• Dual Technology Hybrid
Advance Adiabatic Technologies• Dual Technology Hybrid
• Applies low pressure nozzle grid to atomizes the water, 30-102 psi
• Staged control combined with modulating VFD driven pump.
• Unevaporated droplets are captured by a ceramic post evaporative media
• Applies media evaporation without carryover or aerosols from atomization
• Any residual water is sent to drain

Ceramic Media• Hygienic ceramic material with
service life of the unit with proper maintenance
• Very low pressure drop, < 0.16 inH2O at 394 FPM face velocity
• High evaporation efficiency with large porous surface area
• Carry-over free up to 590 FPM air face velocity
• Does not need to be replace with proper installation and maintenance
Advance Adiabatic Technologies• Dual Technology Hybrid
Benefits of Applying Dual Technologies• Installation length as low as 23.6” vs.
High Pressure requiring 6’ or greater.• Integrated water mineral
management with RO and bacteria control with silver ionization
• Extremely low energy consumption, 51 watts to control and 200 watts for VFD modulation, up to 2200 lbs/hr
• Low pressure drop vs traditional glass fiber or polyester media evaporative systems.
• Lifetime media when maintained properly
• Adiabatic cooling reducing mechanical load

Energy Cost Benefit Comparison (1,000 lbs/hr Load)
Electric Steam Generation• (1,000 lbs/hr = (312 kWh x $0.11 per kWh) x 2,000 hr humidifying season = $68,640
Dual Technology Hybrid• (1,000 lbs/hr = (0.251 kWh x $0.11 per kWh) x 2,000 hr humidifying season = $55.22
Advance Adiabatic Technologies• Dual Technology Hybrid
Hazards caused by biofilms: Contamination of water in the humidifier and the air
▪ Micro-organisms settle down on wet surfaces and over time start building biofilms. After a few days they may enter the stationary phase where germs leave the biofilm continuously
Advance Adiabatic Technologies• Dual Technology Hybrid
Adiabatic Wet Section Hygiene• Silver ionizing systems dose supply
water with silver ions
• Prevents growth of bacteria
• Silver ion dosing concentration is calculated based on the system demand
• Treats the water loop including hoses and nozzles
• When water evaporates off the ceramic, silver ions are left behind sterilizing the ceramic plates as well
• Silver ion concentrations meet municipal drain water standards
