The tenth Margaret Henderson Floyd Memorial Lecture will be delivered by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie. Across a
five-decade career, Safdie has designed Habitat ‘67 in Montreal, the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, and the
Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Mass,. among many works. He has also been the author of several books, a professor at
Harvard and the subject of films and exhibitions. Safdie’s firm, based in Somerville, is currently at work on a number of large
urban projects, the focus of the architect’s Floyd lecture.
Professor Margaret Henderson Floyd taught at Tufts University for two decades before her untimely death in 1997. A
distinguished scholar of American architecture, Professor Floyd was an inspiring teacher and mentor to a generation of
undergraduate and graduate students. This lecture series honors Margaret Floyd’s memory, her scholarship, her service
to Tufts, and her devotion to her students.
