What is the Significance of Human RelationsAs students of human behavior we are more
concerned today with the tremendous influence of industrial and business organizations not only on their own development, but also on the daily round of life of all citizens in all industrial society.
The Problem of Business today:Not only productive work but also survivalOrganizing people into a productive unitThey resist being “being programmed”
saying they are not machine.
What is Human Relations?Tuason (1978)Human relations is both art and process.
Keith Davis(1972)As motivating people in an organization to
develop teamwork which effectively fulfills their needs and achieves organizational objectives.
A discipline within resource management which addresses interpersonal behaviors. Factors that are considered include leadership; communication; team building; and negotiation, facilitation and mediation abilities.
APPROACHES OF HUMAN RELATIONSBottom up – this is a design that permeates
the entire management in order that all persons in it may contribute as fully as possible to the achievement of the goals of the organization.
The two-way flow system – this is a technique by which employees and managers effectively participate in policy making.
Affective Listening – it is process of listening peoples problem that affects their performance of work and their interrelationships.
The Referral system – every organization should have channels referral.
Maintaining Watchful Eye on Ourselves – it is seeking for professional help from other people when times of difficulties in our work.
