Late Life Family Violence
Elder Abuse is an intentional or
negligent act that causes harm or,
a serious risks of harm to a
vulnerable adult.
Types of Abuse:
What is Family Violence
in Later Life?
Physical Abuse: Hitting, slapping,
shoving, kicking, strangling, not allowing
you to leave, using weapons or objects
to injure you, hurting pets.
Emotional and Psychological Abuse:
Yelling, name calling, threats, telling you
what you can and cannot do, name
calling, isolation, hurting pets.
Sexual Abuse: Unwanted touching,
forcing sexual acts, refusing to practice
safe-sex, being forced to view
pornography.
Financial Abuse: Stealing, taking
personal belongings, being forced to
sign legal documents, taking money.
Neglect: Withholding basic needs such
as food and clothing, prescriptions and
medical care.
