Weight∞By this month you have gained about 27
pounds from when you weren’t pregnant; so basically you are putting on a pound per week
Continued breast growth∞By now you have an additional 2lbs. Of
breast tissueBraxton Hicks contractions∞These contractions are warm-ups for the real
thing. They're usually weak and come and go unpredictably.
Changes in the Mother

Changes in the Mother
Backaches ∞As the baby continues to gain weight, pregnancy
hormones relax the joints between the bones in your pelvic area. These changes can be tough on your back.
Shortness of Breath∞You might get winded easily as your uterus
expands beneath your diaphragm, the muscle just below your lungs
Heartburn ∞During the third trimester, the growing uterus
might push your stomach out of its normal position= heartburn
![Page 5: Human fetal development](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062513/556e0b44d8b42aba5d8b4e1a/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Frequent Urination∞As the baby moves deeper into
your pelvis, you'll feel more pressure on your bladder
∞This extra pressure might also cause you to leak urine — especially when you laugh, cough or sneeze

∞ Cocaine• Using cocaine
during pregnancy can lead to: development hollows in the brain, heart defects, LBW (low birth weight), placental abruption
∞Nicotine • Decreased blow
flow from the uterus, diminishes oxygen supply to fetus=fetal hypoxia
• Retardation• Pre-mature• LBW(low birth
weight)
