BOT - PARENT SURVEY Every year the Board consults with and asks for feedback from our community. Last year we sent out a full satisfaction survey around all the key areas in our Hukanui Charter. The feedback was helpful in revising our strate-gic planning and we do this type of survey every second year. In 2016 we are asking for your feedback around our Hukanui Curricu-lum and your child’s learning. We will send the survey link home tomorrow through our email database to ensure only school par-ents / caregivers participate. If you don’t have internet access a written survey can be filled in at the school office. The survey is open for three weeks and will close on Wednesday 21 September. Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions, we appreciate your feedback. Leanne Reynolds, Board of Trustees Chairperson
NOTICE OF PAID UNION MEETING On Monday 12 September from 9 to 11 am there will be no normal classroom programmes as staff in our school will be attending a Paid Union Meeting. PUMs are authorised by section 26 of the Em-ployment Relations Act 2000 (the “Act”), therefore employees are lawfully entitled to attend them. The Government is proposing a “Global Budget” for education that removes the split for staff and operational funding. There are no plans to increase funding so schools will be forced to trade off the costs of teaching staff against other costs to run a school. Primary and Secondary Teachers and Principals have united to express their concerns. They are saying this could result in fewer teachers and larger class sizes. They say this is effectively a return to the failed bulk funding exper-iment of the 1990s. The meetings on 12 September are for teachers to discuss their concerns and plan their response. Children can still at-tend school before 11 am that day where they will be supervised and safe. However normal classroom programmes will not resume until 11 am. If you are sending your child to school at the later time of 11 am please let your child’s teacher or the school office know by Friday 9 Sep-tember.
DAFFODIL DAY Last Friday 26 August our chil-dren showed their caring think-ing by brining a gold coin for the Cancer Society. A total of $555.00 was raised which is a

Matches are not cold they are hot. The kid is about to play with the matches. Matches can burn you. The kid is realising that matches are hot.By Sophie Aquilina, Reception Room
When there is a fire, first you stop what you are doing. After that you shout FIRE FIRE FIRE! You only shout three times. Then you shut the door because fires breathe a lot of air and if a fire doesn't have enough air to breathe it will go out. Our meeting place is by the letter box.
