Christmastide Sunday

On December 31, all classes for all ages will meet in the Family Life

Center during the Sunday School hour for a light breakfast featuring

pastries and biscuits, and a short devotion; you don’t need to bring any-

thing but yourself and a bible. Following breakfast, we will gather in the

Sanctuary for Christmastide worship.

Wednesday Evenings in January

Each Wednesday in January, our congregation will be exploring the

Biblical concept of Beloved Community—the vision of God’s creation

living under God’s authority and treating one another as full citizens of

God’s Kingdom, here on earth. To begin this series, our church will be

sponsoring Huguenot High School’s Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball

games on Wednesday, January 3. We will serve the teams dinner at

4:00 pm. For those who are able to serve, please meet at the HHS gym

at 3:30 pm. The team is playing at James River High School this year.

Please plan to attend these games wearing the Falcons’ green and gold

colors. The girls tip at 5:45 pm and the boys at 7:15 pm.

The following Wednesdays we will be joined by professors from BTSR

who will lead us to further consider God’s vision of Beloved Community.

1/10 Dr. Scott Spencer Woe to the Ties that Break: Lapses of Love in the Community of the Beloved Disciple (John 13:33-34; 1 John 2:18-19; John 9-10) 1/17 Dr. Mark Biddle A House of Prayer for All Peoples (Isaiah 56:7) 1/24 Dr. Art Wright Lying at the Gate: Longing for the Beloved Community (Luke 16:19-31)

Something old, something new . . .

You will notice a new feature in our bulletin: the names of the current

and following week’s volunteers in Worship Care (formerly known as

ETC). We’re glad to make this information easily available, as both a

reminder of service and a reminder to pray for this important ministry to

preschoolers and young families. If you want to see YOUR name in

print, you can contact [email protected] and join the team.

Wednesday Night Dinner will resume on January 10th.

End of Year Giving Reminder End of year contributions are due to the church by

2:00 pm on December 29. You can send your contri-

butions by mail, but it must be postmarked by De-

cember 31. Online giving will also be accepted

through December 31. Many members of HRBC tithe

by giving appreciated stock. To learn more, please

contact Karen Upson at the church office:

[email protected] 804.272.2072.
