Summary of ExperienceCertified and Degreed Mechanical, Chemical, and Metallurgical Engineer with 18 years of experience in power generation, 3 years of experience as an independent consultant, and 5 years of experience in high technology and medical device industry. Licensed PE in NB, (Electrical), MN (Mechanical).

Developed basis for re-evaluation of reactor vessel life for a major nuclear power plant, leading to a life-extension of 30 years beyond the original licensing term. Developed basis for an ice-slurry, "off peak power" cold storage system, for leveling of power systems demand.

Did testing on "Medical Adhesive" to enable change out of supplier for assembling cardiac pacing leads for major pacemaker manufacturer.

Developed economic and technical justification to transition from manual measurement of catheter extrusions to automated digital controlled measurement system, including programming of the automated system.

Maintained Lab Notebooks at three jobs, per each company’s legal requirements. Notebooks maintained for intellectual property defense. Researched all available literature for 20 years on therapy radiation and imaging radiation devices on pacemakers, wrote report to recommend and justify specific testing for new generation pacemaker.

Experience

AEC Engineering, Architect/Engineers, Minneapolis, MN March 2008 to PresentContract Engineer, Process Engineering and Design

Specified and designed replacement “Tank Farm” for paint manufacturer in upper Midwest. Done with engineering team of 4. Contacted all vendors, obtained quotes. Provided design package in 3 week time frame. $2.5 Million dollar renovation underway based on our design.

Fielded technical “Request for Quotes” for 200,000 lbm LPG vessel for local refinery. Obtained quotes, evaluated, selected vendor for construction. Client delighted on competence of builder and quote was almost 60% of the client’s original estimate.

Supplied assistance to local maker of industrial petroleum unload/loading stations for two unload platforms. Produced final design in two week time frame, including electrical systems design. (Metering unit, digital control valve and safety interlocks.) Client expected 5 week time frame.

Developed detailed P&ID’s for LPG facility at local refinery, and for diesel additive system for major Midwest refinery distribution center.

Produce major Air Quality improvement plan for Los Angeles Air Quality Board with recommendations on reducing SO2 emissions from the 8 refineries in the L.A. basin.

Boston Scientific, Cardiac Rhythm Management, Arden Hills, MN July 2007 to November 2007Contract Engineer, Radiation Effects, Semi-conductors

Produced “final report” on projected Environmental Radiation Effects, Per JEDEC Standard JESD89

Developed methods to double check Environmental Radiation Effects calculation basis using MathCAD™ and Excel ™.

Researched and documented need to run accelerated Cosmic Ray testing using transcontinental shipping of Pacemaker Pulse Generators.

Research and documented potential effects of linear accelerator Oncology therapy on Pacemaker Pulse Generators. Created test plan to assess effects. Coordinated use of U of MN Linac for tests.

Ran statistical check of field data on “bit errors” for 500 test Pulse Generators run for 4 months. Validated Environmental Radiation Effects report projections.

Boston Scientific, Maple Grove, MN August 2006 to June 2007Contract Engineer, Statistical Process Control

Engaged in Statistical Process Control for production of plastic extrusions. Developed an automated "vision system" for measuring dimensions of extruded products using

the Nikon Nexus digital microscope system. Wrote "Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility" protocols for measurement systems

verification. Ran the tests outlined in the protocol and wrote final report to codify the results into a computer

based document system.

GE/Water Systems, Minnetonka, MN February 2006 to July 2006Design Engineer

Translated "P&ID" (Piping and Instrumentation) drawings supplied by Sales Engineer into complete water processing system design packages. The systems were combinations of ozonation, filtration, ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis devices.

Participated in complete construction and assembly drawings in 3-D with the assistance of a CAD technician, documentation of the systems in the German inventory control program, SAP, and detailed follow up of device assembly on the shop floor after issuing the design packages.

Guidant, Arden Hills, MN August 2005 to February 2006Contract Engineer, Medical Adhesive Change Out

Developed test protocols, wrote protocols, performed testing per protocol and wrote final reports on testing results to validate change in "Medical Adhesive" for Cardiac Pacemaker lead assemblies.

Used Guidant/Boston Scientific "PDM" system for indexing and storing all documents generated from the work.

Studied and tested in all of Guidant's internal SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for performance of such work.

Kept lab notebook, per Guidant intellectual property standards.

Proton 21 Research Institute, Kiev, Ukraine April 2005 to July 2005Technical Writer

Edited and re-wrote 350 pages of isotopic and materials analysis on nucleo-synthesis work performed at the institute in the preceding 5 years. (Published as “Controlled Nucleo-Synthesis”, Springer, August, 2007. Mark Hugo’s work cited, page XV of introduction.

HTI, Inc., Hutchinson, MN October 2003 to March 2005Metallurgist, Sr. Engineer

Worked on the application of metallurgical design to all elements of high quality stainless steel and copper sheet development and procurement for fabricating hard drive read/write head support arms.

Developed and perfected plating and sputtering methods for "seed layers" on base materials for next generation production of hard drive "head suspensions". Kept lab notebook for patent purposes on these developments.

Worked with Japanese suppliers of precision metal foils, establishing Quality Assurance specifications. Wrote specification documents for procurement of bulk materials.

Various, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Morris, MN January 2000 to September 2003Contract EngineerAP Engineering, a subsidiary of Entegee Inc. (Oakdale/St. Paul, MN):

Performed Finite Element analysis for various customers. Analyzed work on projects from large cranes to bumpers and safety equipment for Go-Cart

tracks.Radiographic and Data Solutions (Minneapolis, MN):
