He died 3 December 1944 about 5 a.m. in a ravine at Stochd, Carrbridge, Inverness, and opposite No. 115 telegraph pole. Injuries sustained while driving an army motor vehicle which left the road and fell down the bank of the ravine. His father James Henry Hughes was a rancher. His mother was Faith Margaret Hughes, nee Harrison. The informant was Lt. A.R., Laing Adj No. 20 Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, Nethy Bridge. Lt. J.R. Hughes dies Overseas Lieut. James Robert Hughes of Queen’s Bay and Boswell has died as a result of injuries received in an accident overseas, his family in the District have learn. Lt. Hughes, 26, was employed in Nelson, before he went East and later enlisted in the Canadian Army. He had been overseas about four years. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Annie Wilson of Kelvin House, Beauly, Scotland; his mother Mrs. Faith Hughes, a teacher at Blueberry Creek; and two sisters, Miss Janet Hughes at Trail, and Mrs. Norval German, nee Kathleen Hughes now residing at Vancouver
