HUE TRAVEL GUIDE INFORMATION

Located on the bank of Song Huong- Perfume River; Hue, Vietnam's old imperial capital of Hue in

Central Vietnam, is 700 km southern Hanoi, 1100km northern Ho Chi Minh City . Set between Dong Ha

and Dong Hoi – Quang Binh province to the north and Da Nang and Hoi An to the south, Hue features

on the itinerary of just about every first time traveller to Vietnam. This imperial legacy manifests itself

today through the fortified city (better known as the Citadel) and a collection of tombs dotting the

landscape around the modern city.

THE BEST TIME TO GET TO HUE CITY

The dry season in Hue lasts from March to August and other months is the rainy season. So, the best time

to get to Hue city is dry season.

HOW TO GET TO HUE CITY

To get to Hue city:

If you are in Ho Chi Minh city or Ha Noi, the best way to get to Hue is going by airplane. Nowadays, there

are many cheap air ticket of many companies. You can refer to Vietnam Airline website:

HUE ATTRACTIONS

Hue Citadel

Hue Citadel is a large, bounded area on the north side of Perfume River- one of attractions in Hue

city. Admission : 105.000VND/ticket. Four citadels were comprised to create the Capital City: Hoang

Thanh (Imperial city) for royal palaces and shrines, Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Purple City) for royal

residences, Dai Noi (Inner city) and Tran Binh Dai, which exclusively ancient architecture. It takes at least

one day to visit the whole complex.

Truong Tien bridge

Truong Tien bridge is a symbol of Hue city. This bridge is far from Hue Citadel only 1 km. You should take

a walk crossing this bridge to sightseeing Perfume River. It is so romantic!!!

Emperors Tombs:

There are several tombs of ancient emperors scattering along the Perfume River such as Minh Mang, Khai

Dinh, Tu Duc, Dong Khanh, ....Admission: 80.000VND/ticket. Lying in the middle of a pine forest, Tu

Duc tomb belongs to Duong Xuan Moutain, 8km far from Hue. Minh Mang tomb was built in 1843 on

Cam Khe Hill, with nearly 20 architectural constructions.

Thien Mu Pagodas:

Thien Mu Pagoda also called Linh Mụ , has become an essential part of Hue City. The pagoda sits on the

Hà Khê hill, in the ward of Hương Long in Huế. It is around 3 km from the Hue Citadel constructed by the

Nguyen Dynasty and sits on the northern bank of the Perfume River,.

With the symbol of the octagonal 21-meter-high tower, This pagoda is built in 1601 and the perfect

combination of artificial architectural work and picturesque nature.

Besides, tourists can also visit other pagodas such as Tu Dam, Tu Hieu, Huyen Khong.

Sailing on Perfume River

Sailing on Perfume River to listen to “ ca tru” ( a kind of traditional music in Hue ) by Hue boatman. This

is a funny experience which you should enjoy when coming Hue.

Besides visiting ancient monuments and tombs, you can also have a chance to bath and lying under the

sun on the most wildly beautiful beaches in Vietnam and visiting Bach Ma mountain, Elephant Springs,

water recreation area and Hai Van Pass.

Thuan An and Lang Co beach are among the most wonderful beaches, Lang Co beach is far from Hue

center about 70 km the South.

At the height of 1450 meter; Bach Ma Mountain, 60km southern the city, represents the four-season

type of weather of the temperate zone. Bach Ma mountain is located about 30 km from Lang Co.

Elephant Springs, water recreation area (Suoi Voi) Approximately 15 km north of Lang Co (Take

Highway 1 out of Lang Co north 15 km, and turn left). A nice drive from Highway 1 west approximately 5

km to the ticket booth. Here you pay to get in, then you drive a further 2 km to the parking lot with a cost.

The springs are lined with little bamboo coverings along each side which cost about 20,000 VND for an

area, unless you also purchase food from the person which they will generally waive a sitting fee.

Hai Van Pass, (Across the bridge south of Lang Co). This is the old highway prior to the construction of

the 6.2 km tunnel. This road meanders over the mountain top between Da Nang and Lang Co. On the top

are some breath taking views and some American outlook ruins from the war.

HUE FOOD

MUST-TRY FOODS WHEN YOU VISIT HUE

Com Hen (rice with mussel) is a very unique dish of Hue. Com Hen contains rice, boiled mussel, star fruit,

fish sauce, cabbage, onion, pepper, peanut, chili, and a variety of herbs. You should enjoy it on Han Mac

Tu street.

Bun bo Hue (Hue style beef vermicelli)or Bun Bo Gio Heo is a popular Vietnamese soup vermicelli dish,

and one of the most typical foods of Hue, Vietnam. The broth is prepared by simmering beef and bones

for a long period of time, after that a large range of different spices containing lemon grass and chili are

added in. For this food, you should go to 11B Ly Thuong Kiet street.

Banh beo (water fern cake) is a kind of small steamed rice pancake. It is white in color, sometimes nearly

transparent and usually has a dimple in the center, which is covered with savory recipes including

chopped dried or fresh shrimp, scallions, mung bean paste, crispy fried shallots, fish sauce, rice vinegar,

and oil. " Banh Beo Ba Cu" is a famous restaurant for this food and located at 47 Nguyen Hue street.

Banh khoai (delicious pancake looks like Banh xeo (pancake) since they both are made from rice flour,

water, turmeric powder , shrimp, bean sprouts and then pan fried. Banh khoai also are wrapped in

mustard leaf, lettuce leaves or rice paper, and stuffed with variety of herb, like mint leaves, basil and

served with a sweet and sour mixed sauce. This food is popular in the winter when it is cold. " Banh Khoai

Lac Thien" is located at 6 Dinh Tien Hoang street is where you should come for this food.

Besides, you should try " che Hue" (kind of dessert made with sugar and bean flour ) at " Che Hem

restaurant" at 26 Hung Vuong Street. This food in very famous in Hue.

" Vy Da Xua" Cafe is a very famous cafe in Hue city because of it's ancient architecture and beauty. You

can come here to to enjoy coffee and feel it.
