Inter-eAN Handoff Scenario during E-UTRAN to eHRPD Optimized Active HandoverThe scenario of Inter-eAN Handoff along with E-UTRAN to eHRPD Optimized Active Handover is identifiedAs the AT performs handover execution procedure as in A.S0022-0, the MME will use the S101 tunnel with eAN2 (S101-2) to tunnel CR+RU messageWhen the AT moves toward left as shown in the figure on the right side, the eHRPD eAN2’ signal fades in the same time as EUTRAN’ signal fades. Problem Statement

The MME will use the tunnel with eAN2 (S101-2) to transmits the tunneled CR+RU message based on static pre-configuration of SectorID

eAN2 finds out qualified target sector belongs to eAN1 and eAN2 can not allocate radio resource for the AT

In this case, E-UTRAN to eHRPD Optimized Active Handover will fail

Suggest Remedy

Add a forwarding mechanism in A13 interface to tunnel S101 message transparently between eANs

S101 Protocol Stack is similar with A13 Protocol Stack, which makes encapsulation of S101 message over A13 message easy
