Samsung WB2000 ReviewSEP 17, 2010 05:00P.M.

The Samsung WB2000 / TL350 hasn’t garnered much attention since its

release, being somewhat overshadowed by its big brother, the EX1. After

a couple of weeks of use, though, we’re hard-pressed to understand

exactly why the Samsung WB2000 isn’t on the short-list of every

photographer looking for a capable and compact pocket digicam. The list

of the WB2000’s standout features is almost endless - 10 megapixel

CMOS sensor, 24-120mm lens with fast f/2.4 maximum aperture, RAW

format support, full range of creative shooting modes,10fps burst

shooting, Full 1080p HD movies, 3 inch AMOLED screen - but can it

deliver as an overall package? Read our in-depth Samsung WB2000 /

constituency © Simon Roberts

Simon Roberts was the first photographer commissioned as the official

election artist for the 2010 General Election in the United Kingdom.

“I wanted to move away from the media’s traditional

approach of concentrating almost exclusively on the three

main party leaders. I was more interested in exploring the

experiences of the smaller political parties and independent

candidates standing in marginal constituencies around the

country. Moreover, I intended my photographs to be a

captivating investigation of the British landscape, as well as

the political campaign that was unfolding in it.” —Simon

Edward Burtynsky’s Fine-ArtView of the Gulf Oil SpillSEP 15, 2010 06:50A.M.

Oil Spill #2, Discoverer Enterprise, May 12, 2010 Edward Burtynsky.

MetivierGallery.com

It’s hard to believe, given the tragic scenario, that anyone could find

beauty in such an ugly catastrophe as the Gulf oil spill, but Canadian

photographer Edward Burtynysky was able to do just that in his newly

released aerial images of the disaster.

Burtynysky has long been known for his work documenting the impact of

the oil industry on natural landscapes. His photography has brought him

around the world, shooting pipelines in Canada, oilfields in Azerbaijan,

and major highways in Los Angeles.

When the Gulf Coast oil spill first started making headlines, it seemed

only appropriate for Burtynysky to photograph it. After all, it is his

ability to show magnitude in his images (which are themselves printed

large), that makes his work so breathtaking and relevant. His images of

the oil spill are no exception, providing an eerie look into something too

massive and destructive to truly comprehend.

Eight of these photographs will be on display at the Nicholas Metivier

Gallery located in Toronto Canada from September 16 to October 9. For

more information and to see the rest of Burtynysky’s images, head on

over to: MetivierGallery.com

With all of the fun photo gizmos and gadgets you’ve collected, you might

find yourself toting around a *bit* more with you on your daily outings.

Here are two new goodies that will help you carry your photo load.

One is designed to get your photos and files from point A to B, while the

other revolutionizes the way you wear your camera!

Camera USB Drive

Our desk is a gallery of only the most unique and charming desk items

(sculptural stapler from MOMA ftw!).

And now, we have a USB drive that will fit right in: The Camera USB

Drive!

It’s a finely detailed mini camera replica that carries 4GB of photos and

files in camera fashion style.

Camera Strap Buddy

This little buddy transforms the way we wear our camera into a most

comfy sling style.

It attaches one end of our camera strap to the bottom of our camera.

We can now non-awkwardly walk across the room without our camera

using our stomach as a bounce house! Boo-ya.

Sony A390 ReviewSEP 13, 2010 06:45P.M.

The Sony A390 is a new 14 megapixel DSLR that fixes one of the major

gripes about its predecessor, the A380, namely its incredibly difficult to

hold handgrip. The Sony A390 otherwise retains all the key features of

its predecessor, including a 2.7 inch tilting LCD screen, Live View, anti-

dust system, ISO range of 100-3200, body anti-shake system, eye-start

auto-focus system and Dynamic Range Optimiser. Find out if the new

hand-grip makes all the difference by reading our in-depth Sony A390

DSLR review.
