Louisiana Candidate Subsidy Program
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) will utilize NBPTS Candidate Subsidy funds to support 42 candidates at 50% of the $2300 certification fee AND will subsidize the remainder of the certification fee for the 42 candidates using 8(g) funds allocated by the State Board Elementary and Secondary Education (SBESE). Candidates will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates must meet NBPTS eligibility guidelines. Teachers interested in using candidate subsidy funds to help with the fee MUST submit their NBC application through the program administrator.
Louisiana State Action
Legislation provides a $5,000 per year stipend, effective until 2007, for public school teachers certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. For year 2001-2002, the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has allocated funds to subsidize $2,000 of the fee for at least one teacher from each district in the state (public and nonpublic).
