Set up your bird box in 8 simple steps

You need a webcam connected to your computer

via an analogue to digital converter (For more

information visit: www.segfl.org.uk/birdbox )

You will also need to download and install the latest version of 'Adobe

Flash'

Log-in to SEGfL Birdbox microsites

Start Broadcasting Make sure your camera is

connected to the low voltage supply and connected via the

analogue to digital convertor to a USB port on your computer.

Under 'Options' on the right, Click on 'Edit'

This will present your main Content Management screen.

Under 'Function', click on 'Edit'

A page will open where you set up your camera

for broadcasting.

To make sure this page can be seen by others, go directly to the bottom of the page and

check that the 'Enabled' box is ticked.

The screen will re-appear.

Now prepare to broadcast. To do this, right mouse click in the square white

box to the left of the red blobs. Select the option 'Settings...' from the pop-up window. You will see a row of

mini icons appear. Click on the microphone icon and select your device from the pull down menu

Click on the webcam icon and select your device.

Now click on the 'Start Broadcasting' button. The red blob will turn yellow 'Connecting' Then pulse green when

connected.

You MUST leave this page open all the time you are broadcasting.

To broadcast video must the Edit Streaming video page always be displayed?Yes, as soon as you exit this page the live streaming of video will stop.

How can others view the video images we are transmitting?To view the live video images others must visit your Bird box project webpage http://microsites2.segfl.org.uk/birdbox/

Can we record video clips for playing back at a later date?Yes, on the Edit Streaming video page just click on start recording

Can we publish reports and messages about the activity in our bird box for others to view and read on the SEGfL Bird Box website? Just click on the Forum link to upload and publish messages and reports.
