Who should attend
• HSE Personnel and Risk Assessors.
Course outline
• The assessment of risks at work is a statutory duty. Further, such risk assessments needs to be “suitable and sufficient”, and must be carried out by persons who are “competent” to carry out such assessments. Most assessments are “qualitative” in nature which is appropriate for the majority of risk assessment requirements. Although there are differences between risk assessment systems, most are based on common, tried and tested techniques and procedures.
• Risk assessment, used correctly, is a highly effective problem solving tool for line-management that not only identifies the risks to people, but also to equipment, materials, facilities and business economics. Additionally, the core principles of general risk assessments are common to COSHH, manual handling, confined spaces, environmental protector etc. This core module provides essential underpinning knowledge required for all other risk assessment types.
