Digital Imagery & Visualization Connecting law enforcement efforts with public awareness efforts is an essential premise of the General Deterrence Model and key to accomplishing the mission of the Foundation. It is imperative that consistent, relevant, and accurate educational efforts linking enforcement and prevention are made to keep citizens informed of the real life dangers of impaired driving. Creating powerful visual content that informs, engages and inspires audiences by using visual and data storytelling to make complex ideas simple is an effective method of public awareness. The Foundation has contracted with Column Five Media to develop and roll out awareness-Driving Info graphics, a Social Campaign consisting of 20 pieces of micro content optimized for social 3 Brochure Designs, one Motion Graphic that is 60 seconds in length with content distribution for additional visibility and media coverage. The beginning stages of this contract have yielded a series of “I’m Good” videos. This video is cartoon style and depicts scenarios where you would not think you were good (without assistance) with a message of ‘why would you think you are good to drive when impaired’. The illustrations and colors make our materials stand out to a younger audience. The video was also broken down into smaller segments that are used for social media advertising. The videos can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/user/NYSSTOPDWI

A portion of this project was a paid media campaign designed to drive traffic to www.stopdwi.org, target a broader and skewed slightly younger audience ages 18-45 and living in New York State. Further, we had a goal of increasing downloads of our “Have a Plan” app. The campaign highlights include:

54,923 impressions 1,087 link clicks $0.47 cost per click 51 post reactions, 17 shares and 4 comments 118 app downloads in 1 month (41% increase from the last social campaign)

The video with the highest performing ad of the three videos, sparking the most comments and reactions and link clicks was the “At the Bar” video. It was resonated best with a younger mail audience. Those men, 18-24 made up 33% of the link clicks to the ad.

industry partners to advance traffic safety. This opportunity also will enhance what STOP-DWI NY has to offer during the planning of the 2018 NYS Highway Symposium.

Traveling Exhibits The Lewis Henry Morgan Institute’s One Second Exhibit Series explores the stories of crash victims across New York State. These forensic-style exhibits focus on high-risk factors such as: the combination of driving and alcohol and/or drug use, excessive speed, and distractions, such as phone use and texting while driving. In addition, the importance of seat belt use is underscored in cases where a lack of seat belt use greatly increased the severity of a victim’s injuries or contributed to a victim’s death. Several exhibits have been developed and are on display across New York State (http://stopdwi.org/resources-travelingexhibits). During this grant cycle the Foundation has reformatted the exhibit panels into a ‘pop-up’ style that will be lighter to transport and easier to assemble. Our top three most requested exhibits have been reformatted at this point (Athletes and Illicit Drug). We also purchased hard body cases on wheels to make it easier to transport the exhibits.
