    Recallingthe Universal %eclaration of Human Rights& stating that every person isborn free and e'ual in dignity and rights&including rights to life& liberty and security(ithout distinction of any )ind&

    Having considered child soldiers as any individual under the age of *+ ta)ing part inmilitary training and any individual under the age of *, participating in live combator as porters& spies& messengers& loo) outs& se-ual slaves and for politicaladvantage either as human shields or in propaganda&

    Noting with deep concern that over . million children have died from armedcon/icts over the last decade& at least 0 million children have been permanentlyimmobili1ed or critically (ounded& more than * million have been orphaned or

    separated from their family and that they are an estmated .+2&222 child soldiersaround the (orld&

    Stressingthe severity and inhumanity of using children for con/ict related causes&

    Bearing in mindthat most areas (here the use children as soldiers is (idespreadareunderdeveloped areas (here children are deprived of the most basic ofaccomodation rights such as education& housing and nutrition& thus causingchildren to pursue soldiery as a means of survival and that in a number of casesthey are ta)en against their (ill&

    Afrmingthat all the children should be granted their rights (hich have beenrecogni1ed in the %eclaration of the Rights of the Child adopted by the U "eneralAssembly Resolution *3,0 of *2th%ecember *4+4&

    Keeping in mindthat the usage of child soldiers is in contradiction (ith article .& 5&6 and 4 of the U %eclaration of the Rights of the Child&

    Rea7rming its commitment to (or) for the protection and rights of the child&

    Deeply convincedthat child soldiers (ill not resolve the nation8s long term prblemsas their gro(th of citi1ens (ill be greatly comprimised&

    *9 Calls upon all nations to adhere to the Additional Protocol ! to the "enevaConventions of *. August *454 stating that any (ho have not yet attained theage of :fteen shall not be recruited or recieve military training and that anyunder the age of *, shall not ta)e part in military con/ict;
