As a data explorer, storyteller and pivotal member of OCAS’ Decision Support Services team, the Senior Data Analyst thrives in uncharted waters, transforming data and visualizations into meaningful metrics that direct strategic and tactical business decisions. Drawing on a robust technical toolkit, the analyst creates and builds prototypes and products that provide insight on and support customer business needs.
As a self-starter with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, the Senior Data Analyst is comfortable managing multiple priorities under pressure. A confident individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, he or she is at ease in interacting with all levels of staff, customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities
Model, analyze, visualize, share, collaborate, and build prototypes and products that provide insight and answers Build partnerships with existing and new customers, externally and within our organization Analyze customer needs and requests under the auspices of data governance and policies Collaborate and consult with cross-functional business and IT teams and stakeholders Participate on development teams to ensure consistently successful implementation and high data quality and
products for the Ontario college system Support information-gathering and creation of business requirements to aid in new product development Anticipate customer needs and provide business insights by offering new materials and ideas
Qualifications
Postsecondary education in mathematics, computer science, statistics or a related field Minimum of 5 years of business intelligence / data warehouse experience or equivalent combination of
education, training and experience Outstanding analytical skills, required to synthesize information into relevant customer services and products Strong interpersonal and communication skills, to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external
customers Ability to ask in-depth, clear, pertinent questions, and listen effectively to customer needs, both expressed and
implied Ability to gather and translate business needs and complex data inquiries into easily understood business and
technical requirements, responses and reports Deep understanding of diverse business intelligence and performance management tools and technologies Effective writing and presentation skills and the ability to convey technical and statistical information to a non-
technical audience Data governance, architecture and management skills with experience in relational and dimensional data
modeling and database design Data administration and metadata management skills to support data quality, lineage, transparency or related
compliance requirements, to verify and attest to business intelligence results and outputs

Expertise in data analysis, statistics, mining, predictive analytics, reporting and visualization with applications like
o IBM Cognos 10.1, TM1 9.5 and SPSSo MS SQL Server 2012 especially SSAS, SSRS, SSDQ, Power BIo MS Sharepointo SQL for Oracle 10g and TOADo MS suite of products with specialized skills in MS Excel using pivot tables and ODBC data sources
Ability to multitask, working on departmental operational tasks and projects with a cross-functional team
Position Reports to: Manager, Decision Support ServicesSalary range: $60,000-$80,000
