Overview
Requirements for successful completion
This guide helps you to study for the Foundations of HP Storage Solutions (HP0-J73) exam. You can benefit from this guide whether you have experience implementing and managing another vendors Enterprise Storage solutions and want to get certified with HP.
To pass the exam, you will need to demonstrate the technical essentials of networking, storage, servers and storage area networks along with principles of backup, data protection, the HP Storage portfolio and converged storage concepts. Furthermore, you should understand the convergence of the previously siloed IT infrastructure domains and see the importance of the holistic approach to IT.
Why take the exam?
Based on your current achievements, passing this test gives you the following certification:
HP ATP Storage Solutions V1
HP ATP Storage Solutions V1
This certification attests that you can:
Explain the fundamental architectures and technologies of Commercial Solutions
Describe HP products and solutions for Commercial Solutions
Identify the customer requirements
Design, validate, and propose a solution
Expand and extend opportunities for current and future customer business
Understand HP SMB Backup vision, strategy, products and solutions

Table 1: HP certification requirements HP ATP Storage Solutions V1
Who should take this exam?
This certification and its associated training are important requirements for presales or solution architects working in a channel partner organization that desires to attain or maintain Silver Storage Specialist in the HP PartnerOne program in order to increase its sales of HP storage solutions primarily to SMB customers. It is expected that these technical individuals will have a minimum of six (6) months of experience in storage technologies and that candidates have a need to identify and define technical requirements and then design commercial storage solutions to meet those needs.
Although this training is an important requirement for channel partners, any individual who has an interest in pursuing an HP Career Certification in Storage Architecting or Storage Integration is also required to have this foundation training in order demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the skill requirements of both Architect and Integration experts.
How to study for the exam
The Foundations of HP Storage Solutions (HP0-J73) exam is a certification exam and tests not only course content but practical experience and knowledge based on real-world situations, as well as prerequisite knowledge. Successful candidates will demonstrate their competency by analyzing scenarios and applying their knowledge and skills to reach logical and correct solutions.
While it is recommended that you complete this training, the training is neither required nor does it guarantee that you will pass the exam. It is expected that you will study on your own and draw on your real-world experience.
Read the sections below to assess your options. Even if you do not intend to complete the recommended training, you should examine the topics that are listed for them in the sections below; the exam will test you on your mastery of these topics.

Tips for taking HP exams
Rather than emphasize simple memorization, HP exams attempt to assess whether you have the knowledge and skills that a Storage Solution Architect requires on the job. Therefore, many test items present a scenario, which outlines a particular environment or problem. You may also need to use exhibits to complete the test items successfully.
The exam includes:
Multiple choice questions that have a single correct response
Multiple choice questions that have two or more correct responses
Scenarios with multiple questions
Matching
ExpertOne exams may be presented in blocks, also known as sections. You can move from question to question within the block or section, and/or skip questions and/or change your answers. However, once you submit your answers for each block or section, you cannot return to a previous block or section to review these questions or change your answers.
Before you answer a question, take the time to read the entire question and all of the options carefully. If the question indicates that it features an exhibit, study the exhibit and reread the question. Make sure to select the answer that correctly responds to the question that is asked not simply an answer that includes some correct information.
If the question asks for more than one answer, remember to select each correct answer. You do not receive partial credit for a partially correct answer.
