Step 1
Place the cartridge top down, drum side
up, on the table with the metal drum axlefacing you. With a Phillips #1 screwdriver,
remove two screws.

Pull the drum axle (metal side plate) away.

Step 3
Place the axle aside. Pull the drum shutter
back, and tape it or hold it with yourthumb and grab the drum by the smallgear end.Lift and pull the drum out,being
careful not to catch the large drum gearon the corner of the recovery blade, it may
bend or tear the blade, causing futuretoner leaks.

Wrap the drum if it is to be used again, and
place it off to the side.

You can now remove the two pins thhold the cartridge together. These a
tapered pins pushed in from the outsidso they must be removed from the insidof the cartridge. With the drum shutt
held back, use a long punch or beextraction tool, and tap, then press, th
tapered pins out from the inside on boends of the cartridge.

The OEM pins can be reused durin
re-assembly, or after-market pins whichave a shoulder (allowing them to b
removed from the outside) can be useinstead. Set the toner hopper aside fnow.

Hold the waste hopper with the wip
blade facing you, and remove the twPhillips head screws holding the wipblade.

Lift the wiper blade out and away. Dum
out all waste toner from the hopper, beincareful not to damage the recovery blad
or foam seal (on the upper back of thwaste hopper).Clean the PCR saddles wia cotton swab and alcohol.

Next, using a pair of needlenose pliegrasp the PCR by the metal shaft, remoit, and place it off to the side as well.

Next, use a Phillips screwdriver to removthe two screws on the left (gear) side
the toner hopper.

Pressing backward on the latch with small, flat blade screwdriver remove th
side plate. All the gears will stay attacheto the side cover and can easily be acleaned.

Remove the white plastic drive gear anblack plastic stabilizer arm from the ma
roller.

NOTE: Be careful not to lose the small
shaped inner-bearing guide attached the stabilizer arm

pry the drum arm outward until it comescompletely off of the shaft.

Clean or replace the wiper blade andreinstall it at this time. Clean the PCRusing a mild soap & water.Re-install the
PCR, and then apply padding powderto a new drum and install it. Be careful
when installing the drum axle that the
inner shoulder fits into the depressionaround the hole in the side piece com-pletely (See Photo 9), so as not to pinchthe waste hopper side piece against
the drum gear (See photos #10 “right”,
and #11 “wrong”). This can cause bind-
ing, gear noise and a possible “errorcode 51”. The waste hopper is now fin-
ished and can be set aside.

Take the toner hopper and place it on thetable with the mag roller side facing you.The
drum cover is attached on the left side by awire only, while the right side is attached by
both a wire and the curved, spring-loadedplastic “drum cover arm”. First, lift the drumcover arm spring and latch it on the cutout
of the arm. (See Photo 12)

Turn the wire back and upwauntil the keyed flat piece of th
wire on the left (gear) side vertical and aligned with t
vertical slot on the plastic sid
plate, then slide it out .

Do not force it, as it will com
out easily when alignecorrectly. You have now completely removed the dru
cover (it is very easy to re-instin reverse order). Set it asi
until the end.

Dump the remaining toner from the
toner hopper and vacuum or clean withcompressed air. Clean the toner sensorwith a cotton swab and alcohol.

Pry out gently on each end of the doctorblade with a small flat blade screwdriver
to aid in removal.
