I remember a tale passed so frail. Whatever happened to the finest man that made him have continuous seizures, as he fell into fire and at other times fell into water? The fa- ther with the confidence of a clown rushed into the arms of doctors. Nothing happened. Something brought him before Christ’s own disciples but they could not heal him even in the name they believed. The fa- ther lifted his voice and shout- ed, “Lord, have mercy on my son.”…I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” Alas, He did. Pondering in their heart, the disciples asked the solution to all problems. Why couldn’t we heal him? And Jesus answered him, “Howbeit this kind goes not out but by prayer and fast- ing.” My lile interest in the story in Ma 17:15n makes my head ck fasng, fasng, fasng… We pray but we don’t fast. May be we fast but do we FAST as FAST. Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed? Is not this the kind of fasng I have cho- sen: to lose the chains of injus- tice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Do you have issues that are beyond solution? Are you praying about something for so long and loosing hope? Have you been trusting man to help? Probably, you are spending energy on something that requires the “Howbeit an- swer”. It is time to pray and FAST. I remember a tale passed so frail. Whatever happened to the finest man that made him have continuous seizures, as he fell into fire and at other times fell into water? The fa-ther with the confidence of a clown rushed into the arms of doctors. Nothing happened. Something brought him before Christ’s own disciples but they could not heal him even in the name they believed. The fa-ther lifted his voice and shout-ed, “Lord, have mercy on my son.”…I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” Alas, He did. Pondering in their heart, the

disciples asked the solution to

all problems. Why couldn’t we

heal him? And Jesus answered

him, “Howbeit this kind goes

not out but by prayer and fast-

ing.” My little interest in the

story in Matt 17:15n makes my

head tick fasting, fasting,

fasting… We pray but we don’t

fast. May be we fast but do we

FAST as FAST. Why have we

fasted,’ they say, ‘and you

have not seen it? Why have we

humbled ourselves, and you

have not noticed? Is not this

the kind of fasting I have cho-

sen: to lose the chains of injus-

tice and untie the cords of the

yoke, to set the oppressed

free and break every yoke? Is it

not to share your food with the

hungry and to provide the poor

wanderer with shelter—when

you see the naked, to clothe

them, and not to turn away

from your own flesh and

blood? Do you have issues that

are beyond solution? Are you

praying about something for so

long and loosing hope? Have

you been trusting man to help?

Probably, you are spending

energy on something that

requires the “Howbeit an-

swer”. It is time to pray and

FAST. Deal your food to the
