An abstract is a brief summary of the proposal. It includes:• The research question.• The rationale for the study
(objectives).• The methodology.
Write an Abstract
Introduce your topic.• Example: Masochism is a
psychological disorder that is associated with what is called the Emo style among teenagers.
Narrow down or focus your topic.• Example: There are several reasons
why teenagers are likely to develop a masochistic personality. These include social and academic frustrations and strict parental upbringing.
Mention research objectives. • Example: This research attempts to investigate the
reasons behind the increasingly growing psychological disorder of Masochism among teenagers.
Outline Key literature.• Example: There has been considerable amount of
study about teen depression and suicide, but very few addressed the Masochistic disorder as a major symptom of teen depression.
Decide research methodology. • Example: My research tools would
include statistics about the percentage of emos, an interview with a specialist in teen psychology, primary and secondary sources from the University library, and reliable online sources.
Mention Your research voice.• Example: I’m going to be
neutral /objectives in examining the reasons behind such phenomenon.
