• A video project is a project in a classroom that involves movies. It has a lot of media and a lot of steps to involve each and every student.

• A video project doesn’t just start with video recording, it is thought out and planned far before the production.

• Come up with a topic/idea. • Planning- what will happen and who will do what. • Storyboarding- creating scenes that the video project will have. • Sets- planning the backgrounds making sure there is enough light

and quiet sound.• Practicing lines- actors need to know their lines.• Production- Off to shoot• Editing and Post Production- Putting the scenes together on a

computer and adding the final touches• Sharing- uploading to a website, embedding a link on the class

page, creating a DVD to share with others.

• Teachers and Students.• The ideal way to create a video project in the classroom is

for the teacher to be a facilitator and guide, but not do the work. The work is for the students to put their own creativity into. If the teacher is doing all the work, there is no need to have it be a classroom project. The teacher is there to teach the correct use of the equipment, the steps within the project and guide the results.

• Some students might not be comfortable with being on camera- that is why there are many other jobs within the project to keep them involved- jobs such as Editing.

• Students know the work it takes to create videos.• Students will retain more information from their

project because it will be taught in a different way.• Students will have a sense of accomplishment when

the video is done.• Students will be able to show their work to other

classrooms or schools.• Students will learn new ways to use technology.• Students will have FUN!

• The short answer is YES. Video Projects take up quite a bit of time. The steps involved are many, and it takes some getting used to, but after teaching how to use the equipment and the steps involved, the class will get a handle on the idea of create video projects and the project time will decrease.

• The benefits to the use of the video project though, far outweigh the cost of time.

• Field Trip video• Video Scrapbook of the years events• Newscast of the day/week/month for the class/school• Documentary about the school or class• Create an All About Me Autobiography• Interviews• Give a speech or presentation on video• Acting out a excerpt of a favorite book• Creating Time-Lapse video of Natural Events• Write a commercial- get students ideas out there• And the list goes on…
