1 Introduction

1.1 Plant Connectivity Integration

SAP MII is integrated with SAP Plant Connectivity (PCo) which allows you to create and configure

notifications directly in SAP MII and publish the notifications to SAP Plant Connectivity (SAP PCo)

systems. SAP PCo connects to the data source and handles the published notifications. Once

notifications are published and activated in PCo, you can pause and resume them individually from SAP

MII without stopping the whole agent instance.

To launch Plant Connectivity Integration follow the below steps:

a. Login to MII Portal

b. Expand ‘Plant Connectivity Integration’

c. Click on link ‘Notification Integration’

The Plant Connectivity Management is divided into following tabs:

1. Manage Notifications

2. Browse Notifications

3. Recently Modified Notifications

Note: Each tabs is explained in detail in further sections.

2 Manage Notifications

2.1 Creating a notification for Plant Connectivity Data Server

a. Click on Manage Notifications tile.

b. Choose the PCo Data Server from icon which displays all the PCo Connectors, created and

enabled in SAP MII - Data Server screen

c. Select the PCo Data Server from the displayed list.

d. Selected PCo Data servers will display all the notification is any exists and Create Notification

which is available in bottom corner of the screen is enabled.

e. Click on Create Notification which is available in bottom corner of

the screen is enabled.

f. Enter the Notification Name and Description.

g. Click OK

h. Notification details screen will appear with following details:

Notification name: Notification_Plant_Chocolates

Description: Notification created for temperature tags under Chocolate plant

Data Server: WS_MII_WSCKT

Status: DRAFT

Version: 1

i. Notification details screen consists of following tabs with Save, Edit, Publish to PCo, Activate,

Pause, Delete and Cancel buttons:

2.2 Configure Trigger tab a. By default Trigger tab will appear under Notification details screen

b. Change the Trigger type as OnTrue from the dropdown

c. Click on Manage Expression available on right side corner.

d. Expression editor screen will appear

e. In Plant Information Catalog, Expand the Root hierarchy. Expand The Group and Select the PIC

Tag.

Note: Make sure that we have Plant Information catalog hierarchy defined under SAP MII Catalog

Services for PCo Agents which has been used to create notifications.

f. Click on Add to Expression available on the top of the PIC table. Selected PIC tag namespace

will be added under Trigger Expression field. Also can provide user-defined trigger expression

such as [Root/Group_WS_MII/Simulation/Random1]>=80. Can include different functions

which MII supports to create the valid expression

g. Click on Validate button. It validates the trigger expression provided whether it is syntactically

correct with success or error message.

h. Click OK. Trigger expression will be defined.

2.3 Configure Output tab a. Click on Output tab

b. Click on Manage Output available on Output Expression table.

c. Output Expression editor will appear

d. Select the PIC tags on Plant Information Catalog pane. Click on Add to Expression

e. Provide the name to Output Expression and Click on PCo Expression icon available on row

item of Output expression. Expression in PCo format is displayed.

f. Click OK. Output expression will be added.

g. Select the Output expression “TagValue”. Go to Context for TagValue table. Click on Manage

Context

h. Output Context editor will appear.

i. Select the PIC Tags under Plant Information catalog pane and click on Add Properties. Select the

Properties.

j. Provide the name as “Pressure” to the context added.

k. Click on Add Context and define the new context property

l. Click OK

i. Output expression and context for the output expression will be added.

2.4 Configure Message Delivery tab a. Click on Message Delivery tab

b. Set the Reliability properties such as Maximum Number of Retries as 5 and Retry interval

(seconds) as 60

c. Set the Lifetime properties for notification such as Days 1, Hours 0 and Minutes 0

d. Set the Failed Messages properties such as Message Persistence as KeepAll and Delete Message

after (Minutes) as disabled (default value is 60)

e. Set the Message Bundling properties such as Fixed Number of Messages as 10 and Maximum

Accumulation Time (seconds) as 60. Turn on these two properties.

2.5 Configure Destinations tab a. Click on Destinations tab

b. Click on Add Destination available on the right hand side

c. Select the Destination type as Simulation Destination; Destination System as Sim <from

dropdown> which are already defined in Plant Connectivity server

d. Provide the Destination name as Destination1 and Description as Saved locally

e. Click OK

f. Click on Add Destination available on the right hand side

g. Choose the Destination type as MII Destination; Destination System as ldcimfc <from

dropdown> which were already defined in Plant Connectivity server

h. Provide the Destination name as Destination2 and Description as Alerts sent to MII

i. Click OK

j. Browse the Transaction Name by clicking on available. Browse Transaction pop up

appears.

k. Select the transaction which you want to process these PCo notifications which are sent from

Plant Connectivity Server when trigger expression is met.

MII transactions should have XML data type Input Transaction Parameter.

m. Destinations are added to the notification.

2.6 Configure Description tab a. Click on Description tab

b. Click on Add Description available in the screen.

c. A new row will be added to table. Click on under Language column and Choose the

Language such as de

d. Provide the description for the newly added language (User specific locale)

2.7 Save the notification a. All the mandatory data are provided in notification. We can save the notification by clicking on

Save button available in the bottom pane.

2.8 Publish the notification a. Once the notification saved, we can publish the notification to Plant Connectivity by clicking on

Publish to PCo button available in bottom pane.

Note: In MII, notification status will be changed to PUBLISH TO PCO whereas in Plant

Connectivity will appear as DRAFT under the specific PCo Agent.

2.9 Activate the notification a. Once the notification is published, we can activate the notification by clicking on Activate button

available in bottom pane.

Note: In MII, notification status will be changed to CURRENT whereas in Plant Connectivity

will also appear as CURRENT under the specific PCo Agent.

2.10 Creating a notification for Plant Catalog a. Go to Manage Notification tile.

b. Choose the Plant Catalog

c. Manage notification screen under Plant Catalog will appear with PIC hierarchies.

d. Expand the Root and Select the PIC tag or PIC Group under which the remote notification should

be created.

e. Click on Create Notification button available in the bottom pane. Click OK.

f. Notification details should appear.

g. Go to Output tab. Selected PIC tags should be added under Expression in Output Expression

table.

h. Provide the Name for Output Expression and Add the Context for the Output Expression.

i. Add the Destination for the notification.

2.11 Edit the Notification a. Go to Manage Notification. Select the PCo Data Server. Select the Notification which you need

to update/edit it. Click on Edit button available in RowItem

b. Notification details screen will appear

c. Change the Trigger type as “Always”. Trigger Expression will be disabled.

d. Click on Save button available in bottom pane. Notification will be updated.

Version will get updated as 2 and Status as DRAFT

e. Click on Publish to PCo button available in bottom pane.

Note: In MII, notification status will be changed to PUBLISH TO PCO whereas in Plant

Connectivity will appear as DRAFT under the specific PCo Agent with new version.

f. Click on Edit button available in bottom pane.

g. Go to Output tab. Add a new Output expression using Manage Output button available in upper

right hand corner.

h. Click on Save button available in bottom pane. Notification will be updated.

Version will still be 2 and Status as MODIFIED

i. Click on Publish to PCo button available in bottom pane.

Note: In MII, notification status will be changed to PUBLISH TO PCO whereas in Plant

Connectivity will appear as DRAFT under the specific PCo Agent.

j. Once the notification is published, we can activate the notification by clicking on Activate button

available in bottom pane.

Note: In MII, notification status of Version 2 will be changed to CURRENT and Version 1 will

be in OUTDATED status whereas in Plant Connectivity also appear as CURRENT under the

specific PCo Agent and Version 1 will be in EXPIRED status

2.12 Delete the Notification a. Go to Manage Notification. Select the PCo Data Server. Select the Notification whose Status is

DRAFT and Version is 1.Click on Delete button available in RowItem

b. A delete notification pop up appears as Delete this version of notification and Click OK

c. Selected notification will be deleted successfully only in MII side.

d. Go to Manage Notification. Select the PCo Data Server. Select the Notification whose Status is

PUBLISH TO PCO and Version is 2. Click on Delete button available in RowItem

e. A delete notification pop up appears and choose the option as Delete this version of notification

and click OK.

f. Selected notification will be deleted successfully in both MII and Plant Connectivity side.

g. Go to Manage Notification. Select the PCo Data Server. Select the Notification whose Status is

CURRENT and Version is 3. Click on Delete button available in RowItem

h. A delete notification pop up appears and choose the options as Delete all versions of notification

and Phase out current notification and click OK.

i. All the versions of selected notification will be deleted successfully in both MII and Plant

Connectivity side and ensures that notification messages if any will be delivered to the recipients.

3 Browse Notifications

3.1 Browse the notifications a. Click on Browse Notifications tile.

b. Notifications can be browse by its PCo Data Servers, Notification Name and Status.

c. Choose the PCo Data Server from icon which displays all the PCo Connectors, created and

enabled in SAP MII - Data Server screen

d. Select the PCo Data Server from the displayed list.

e. Click on Search button available on right side corner of the screen.

f. All the notifications which are created under the selected PCo Data Server will be displayed.

g. Select the notification and Click on button available in RowItem.

h. Selected notification details will be displayed.

i. We can perform the edit/update, publish, activate and delete operations directly in Notification

details screen.

j. Select the notification and click on button available in RowItem.

k. Selected notification can be delete by choosing the following options:

1. Delete this version of notification

2. Delete all versions of notification

3. Phase out current notification

l. You can also delete the notification from Browse notification screen.

3.2 Activate and Pause the notifications a. Click on Browse Notifications tile.

b. Notifications can be browse by its PCo Data Servers, Notification Name and Status.

c. Choose the PCo Data Server from icon which displays all the PCo Connectors, created and

enabled in SAP MII - Data Server screen

d. Select the PCo Data Server from the displayed list.

e. Select the Status as PUBLISH TO PCO by clicking on icon

f. Click on Search button available on right side corner of the screen.

g. All the notifications which are in PUBLISH TO PCO will be displayed.

h. Select the notification and click on Activate.

i. Select the Status as CURRENT by clicking on icon and Click on Search button

available on right side corner of the screen.

j. All the notifications which are in CURRENT will be displayed.

k. Select the notification and Click on Pause. Notification Log will appear with notification message

l. Select the notification and Click on Resume and Notification Log will appear with notification

message.

3.3 Import and Export the notifications a. Click on Browse Notifications tile.

b. Notifications can be browse by its PCo Data Servers, Notification Name and Status.

c. Choose the PCo Data Server from icon which displays all the PCo Connectors, created and

enabled in SAP MII - Data Server screen

d. Select the PCo Data Server from the displayed list. Click on Search button icon

available on right side corner of the screen.

e. Click on SelectAll icon available in left side table header. Click on Export button.

Notification.xml file will be exported to default location.

f. Similarly, we can import the notification.xml files through Import button available.

Pre-requisites: Relevant PCo Data servers and PIC hierarchical structure should be created in

import system.

g. Click on Browse Notifications tile.

h. Click on Import button. Browse the notification.xml file from the path.

i. Click on Import button. Notifications will be imported successfully.
