WHAT IS SOCIAL SOFTWARE?
SOCIAL SOFTWARE SUCH AS BLOGS, WIKIS AND PODCASTS, IS WHAT ALLOW S PEOPLE TO CONNECT, TO COMMUNICATE AND TO COLLABORATE ONLINE.
BLOGS MAY CONSIST OF;
WRITTEN TEXT, PICTURES OR PHOTOS,
PHOTOBLOGS, AUDIO AND VIDEO.
They cover a wide range of topics related to education.
They can be set up and used by a teacher, by individual learners or by a class.
THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH A
“REAL-WORLD” TOOL WITHWHICH TO PRACTISE YOUR WRITTEN ENGLISH, AS
WELL AS A WAY OF CONTACTING OTHER LEARNERS.
Learners tend to want their written work in
a blog to be as accurate as possible, given
that the blog is publicly accessible, and the
teacher needs to be prepared to give
learners plenty of time for writing, rewriting,
redrafting and checking postings before
they are added to the blog.
Criteria will probably include: Accuracy, Fluency, Coherence, Relevance, Effective use of visuals, Length of postings and Awarness of audience.
