TRANSCRIPT
Some easy goal setting activities is the first step to stop procrastinating. See goal
setting as your road map to whatever you want to achieve in your life. We always
try to look at the big picture first, then we decide it is too big a task to take on, we
lose heart and we never get started on those goals. There are about as many reasons
we procrastinate as there are excuses for not doing what we need to. Failing at
proper goal setting is usually on top of that massive list. You want to know how to
stop procrastinating? Good goal setting activities is your first step in starting to
take action and make things happen. So let’s start shall we?
Be The Dreamer
The first of the goal setting activities is the big one, be the dreamer. Have you ever
heard this quote by Napoleon Hill” Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it
can achieve”? I want you to sit still and take it in for a second. Every success we
achieve in life starts with these timeless powerful words. Every self-help success
guru on the planet will tell you the same thing.
Everything we achieve in life comes down to “Whatever the mind can conceive
and believe, it can achieve”. But how do we make it happen like that? We start
dreaming. In your dream, start seeing yourself as if you have already achieved your
goal. FEEL the absolute elation you feel when you achieved something you have
been dreaming about. That is the key to this. Feel it. Your body works with
feelings. Keep that FEELING with you through every step of reaching your goals.
It will motivate you like you will not believe.
Setting Goals The Right Way
Make a list of everything you want to be, do and have. Write it down. Have a look
at the list, take each goal and answer this simple questions about each goal:
Why do I want to be this?
Why do I want to do this?
Why do I want this?
If you cannot answer in a short sentence without thinking about it, then you don’t
have that goal as a desire or a firm goal in your life. You have to have a strong
desire for each goal. Now you have narrowed this list down to only a few, but a
few really important ones.
Write It Down
Step 3 in your goal setting activities is to write it down. When you write it down,
you make a statement. It have been proven in a study conducted by the Dominican
University that those who has written down their goals has accomplished
significantly more than those who did not. Why? Writing down one’s goal greatly
enhances the achievement of reaching your goals. It will motivate you to take
action. It will help you overcome resistance. It gives you a way to measure your
progress. So before you do anything else, write down your goals. Keep them in a
place where you can constantly look at them. This is another important step in how
to stop procrastinating.
Stop Listening
Step 4 in your goal setting activities is to stop listening. Do you hear me? Stop
listening to that little annoying voice inside you telling you what you cannot
achieve in your life. Where does he come from? Well, he comes from you telling
yourself to long what you are capable of. Your inner voice only says what he says
because he has been thought by you, by your friends and family when you listen to
them saying you can’t do something, or you will never be good at something etc.
So the moment you try to do something he shouts loudly in your mind…stop, you
can’t do this! One way to start silencing this little voice that makes a big loud
noise, is to look at the goals you want to achieve constantly, and see yourself as if
you have already achieved them, feel the feeling you will feel as if it already
happened.
Do this little exercise at least 3 or more times a day and you will silence him on
this forever, start to achieve success and stop procrastinating. Stop listening to
everyone and focus on what you want to achieve, and go for it. Ask yourself, these
people telling you what you can’t do, what have they achieved in their lives? You
might be surprised by the answer.
A List of steps
Step 5 in goal setting activities is a list of steps. Now you have dreamed about what
you want to do, be and have. You have narrowed it down to the ones you have the
most desires for. You wrote it down and you stopped listening to that little know it
all voice, it is time to break everything you need to do in order to reach your goals
down in simple steps. Ask yourself these questions:
