What you need:

How to do:

Place two squares with the same pattern together, right sides facing the same direction. Fold the front square, inwards, 9 cm. Trim at 5 cm.

Fold the front square again, by 4 cm, and press. Fold one more time, by 2 cm. Press and sew.

Align the front square with the back square. Pin and sew.

Vertical border stripYou will need two vertical border strips.

Square pocketYou will need two squares with the same pattern for each pocket. There are 25 pockets so you will need 50 squares.

Instructions continued

Fold each end of the long side of the border strips by 2 cm. Press. This will make the border strips 5 cm wide.

Pin together 5 squares in a row, leaving 2 cm for the seam. This will make each pocket 30 cm wide. Sew together and press the seams.

When all 5 rows are sewn and pressed, pin the rows to each other, leaving 2 cm for the seam. This will make each pocket 30 cm high. Sew together and press the seams.

Fold each border strip in the middle along the long side. Press.

Pin the pockets to the back piece, wrong sides together. Adjust and trim the edges to fit.

7 8 9Pin the vertical border strips to the vertical edges of the pockets/back piece, allowing the border strips to overlap the pockets/backpiece by 2 cm.

Fold a 2 cm hem on the open ends of the horizontal strips. Press.

Pin the horizontal border strips to the horizontal edges of the pockets/back piece, allowing the border strips to overlap the pockets/back piece by 2 cm. Sew the border strips to the pockets/back piece from the front.
