Before You Create Your Custom Facebook App You need to know what type of Strutta promotion site yoursquoll be launching Compare site type features

There are four site types to choose from when launching a contest or sweepstakes two Facebook options and two web-based options Select the channel that will best serve your campaign goals and engage your community

The settings required for a Custom Facebook App differ in each promotion site type with Strutta This guide is for a Strutta Facebook Canvas App only You can check which site type you are using in the General gt Basics section of your Strutta builder

Facebook Canvas App

Launch a full canvas app on Facebook This option is best if you wish to allow users to access your promotion on a mobile device however it takes one click extra click to access it from your Facebook Page Canvas pages are 760 pixels wide

To connect your Strutta promotion site with a Custom Facebook App you must first connect your Facebook account to Strutta

You will be directed to lsquoConnectrsquo in Step three below You can access this page manually in the Facebook Manager section of your Account Dashboard

In Your Promotion Builder

Integration gt Facebook gt Facebook Page1 Select your Facebook Page from the list2 Click lsquoAdd your Facebook Pagersquo if itrsquos not listed3 You will then be asked to lsquoconnectrsquo with your

Facebook page

Integration gt Facebook gt Facebook App 1 Tick the box lsquoLet participants login with Facebookrsquo 2 Click lsquoCustom Apprsquo3 Click lsquoAdd your Custom Facebook Apprsquo4 You will be directed to the Facebook Manager section


Setting Up Your Custom Facebook AppYoursquoll be directed to the Facebook Manager section of your Account Dashboard from your Power Promos Builder to set up your Custom Facebook App

Follow the steps 1-4 listed in this section and remember to save your settings

Again your Facebook account must be connected to Strutta in order for your custom Facebook Apps to appear here (you can verify this in the Facebook Manager section of your Account Dashboard)

After you have created the custom app in Facebook the app will become available for you to add

1 Click refresh if you donrsquot see it listed2 Select the App from the list3 Copy and paste the app secret from

Facebook Developers4 Save your settings


In Facebook DevelopersGo to Facebook Developers gt Apps at httpdevelopersfacebookcom

The Set Up1 Click lsquoAppsrsquo + Create New Apprdquo button (top

left)2 Enter your lsquoApp Display Namersquo This should

be the name of your promotion3 App Namespace This will be part of your

promotion URL4 Enter the category as lsquoApps for Pagesrsquo5 Complete the security check6 Set up your Custom Facebook App


Note [YOUR_PROMO_ID] is the number assigned to your Strutta promotion Find it in your campaignrsquos URL in the Strutta builder

Facebook Canvas App Basic Settings Here are the basic settings for your Custom Facebook App when launching a Facebook Canvas App with Strutta

bull App ID This is your Apprsquos unique Facebook App IDbull App Secret Take note of this value to connect your custom Facebook App with your

Strutta promotion

Basic Info

bull App Display Name Your Apprsquos name Example lsquoEnter to Winrsquobull App Namespace This will be part of your promotion URL (you can choose any name

you wish)bull Contact Email For important communication related to your appbull App Domain NA - Leave blank


Facebook Canvas App Basic SettingsHere are the basic settings for your Custom Facebook App when launching a Facebook Canvas App with Strutta

Basic Settings gt Add Platform

bull Click the lsquoAdd Platformrsquo option

A pop-up menu will display you will need to select 3 platforms for your Canvas App settings

bull Select the lsquoWebsitersquo iconbull Select the lsquoApp on Facebookrsquo iconbull Select the lsquoPage Tabrsquo icon

You can only choose one platform at a time so the lsquoAdd platformrsquo button needs to be selected three times

Selecting these three options will expand additional settings which are outlined on the next page


Facebook Canvas App Basic SettingsHere are the basic integration settings for your Custom Facebook App when launching a Facebook Canvas App

bull Your Page Tab Name should be short amp relevant It will appear on your Facebook Page

Settings gt Basic gt Page Tab Width

bull Select Standard (810 px)


Page Tab ImageUpload a custom image that is 75 x 75 exactly This image will appear in the App permissions dialogue amp search results

Facebook App Details Settings

All custom Facebook Apps must include a link to a Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service

You can use Struttarsquos Privacy Policy amp Terms of Service or provide your own

Facebook apps that do not include these two URLrsquos may be removed by Facebook

The settings outlined above are the only details that need to be filled in this section


Facebook Status amp Review

bull By default the Custom Facebook App will be in sandbox mode while you create it

bull Please ensure sandbox mode in the Custom App settings is disabled before launching your promotion
