How to score applications in NHS Jobs user guide

This guide gives you instructions for how to score applications in the NHS Jobs service.

Once you’ve received an application, you’ll score the applications against:

• the qualification criteria

• the experience criteria

• any other criteria (optional)

If you’ve selected online, you’ll score applications using the NHS Jobs service by:

• selecting the criteria applications meet

• adding a summary note for applicant feedback (optional)

If you’ve selected offline, you’ll score applications outside of the NHS Jobs service by:

• downloading the applications to score

You can close the job advert early if you’ve received the required number of application and

scored all applications to shortlist.

If the advert is closed, you can find the listing in the ‘Shortlisting’ section of the employer

dashboard.

Only the ‘Shortlisting lead’ can move the job listing from the scoring to the shortlisting

recruitment stage.

Important: To score an application you must’ve received a submitted application. In this

example, there’s 1 application to score.

To find the job to score applications, complete the following step:

Score applications offline

This page gives you instructions for how to score applications offline outside of the NHS

Jobs service.

Important: This page is only shown if you’ve selected offline scoring.

To score applications offline, complete the following steps:

1. Select a box to download an application.

2. Select the ‘Download applications’ button.

3. Select the ‘Go back to your dashboard’ link.

You’ve reached the end of this user guide once you’ve scored all applications offline and the

advert is closed.

Score your applications

This page gives you instructions for how to score your applications online.

Important: You can’t choose your shortlist until all applications are scored and the advert is

closed. Only the ‘Shortlisting lead’ can move the job listing from the scoring to the shortlisting

recruitment stage. In this example, there is 1 application to score.

To score your applications, complete the following steps:

1. Select the ‘1 applications to score’ link.

2. Select the ‘Start scoring applications’ button.

Tip: Once you’ve scored an application, it will move into the ‘applications scored’ box. Once

all applications are scored, the number of applications to score will show as ‘0’.

Applications to score

This page gives you instructions for how to view the applications you have to score.

To score your applications, complete the following steps:

1. Select the ‘Score this application’ link.

Score qualifications

This page gives you instructions for how to score the qualification criteria.

Important: If there’s no evidence of the qualification criteria met, don’t tick the box. In this

example there’s no desirable criteria to score the application against.

To score the qualification evidence, complete the following step:

1. Select a box if the criteria is met.

This page gives you instructions for how to score the experience criteria.

Important: If you’ve added any add other criteria, you’ll need to repeat these steps to

complete the scoring of applications.

To score the experience evidence, complete the following step:

1. Select a box if the criteria is met.

Application summary

This page gives you instructions for how to add an application summary.

Important: The ‘Done scoring and score next application’ button is shown once all

applications are scored, and the advert is closed.

To add a note, complete the following steps:

1. In the blank box, enter the detail (optional).

2. Select the ‘Done scoring and return to the overview’ button.

Tip: You can add notes for internal use, but this could be requested as feedback by the

applicant

Manage your applications

This page gives you instructions for how to manage your applications.

Important: You can close your advert early if you’ve completed all your scoring. If you don’t

want to close the advert early, you’ll need to wait until the closing date is reached to

complete your scoring. Once scoring is complete, you can select your shortlist.

To view your applications or close the advert now, complete the following steps:

1. Select the ‘1 applications scored’ link (optional).

2. Select the ‘View this application’ link (optional).

or

3. Select the ‘close the advert early’ link (optional).

You’ve reached the end of this user guide once you’ve scored all applications online and the

advert is closed.

Close your advert early

This page gives you instructions for how to confirm if you want to close your job advert early.

Important: If you close your advert early, you’ll not receive any more applications.

To confirm if you want to close your job advert early, complete the following steps:

1. Select the ‘Yes, close advert early’ button.

or

2. Select the ‘No, keep advert open’ link.
