Printing To be able to print from the Business Central web client we use a local print service running in IIS.

This can be installed on an existing print-server or on the Application Server.

Azure Active Directory / Office 365 Tenant Requirements (CSP) We will send an invitation for a reseller relationship so that we can create the needed resources in a

new Azure Subscription.

This is used for authentication and hosting of Azure functions.

Active Directory Requirements

User Accounts - Boltrics (1)

- DynamicsSRV1_xxx (2) (3)

- DynamicsSRV3_xxx (2) (3)

xxx should be replaced by a customer number supplied by Boltrics (three digits).

Request the Customer ID via [email protected]

(1) User account for support and installation needs local admin permission on all servers of

installation option 1,2 or 3

(2) Service account for Dynamics services needs local admin permission on all servers of installation

option 1 or 2, with option 3 only for VM 2 and 3.

(3) Service account needs to be able to register SPN records in active directory.

This can be setup by the following procedure:

- Open Active Directory Users and Computers;

- Choose [account] and click on the Security tab;

- Select “SELF” in the “Groups or user names” list;

- Search “Write public information” in the “Permissions for SELF” list and select “Allow”.

All accounts should be set to: Never expires and all without a password policy.

We will change all the passwords during the installation.


SSL Certificate (DNS) Requirements Business Central works with your own SSL certificate;

- Wildcard or SAN certificate

Please install the certificate on all application servers;

- Add 4 DNS records (one per environment) to both the external and internal DNS servers,

below an example;

- If the customer has more than one sites, please note that the DNS records needs to be

unique (except when a load balancer / reverse proxy is in use).

Server Settings Requirements

Operating System

- The server must be up to date with Windows Updates;

- Windows Update notifications should be disabled for the Boltrics account;

- The CPU Power Saving should be disabled in the BIOS / UEFI;

- Windows power options should be set on High Performance;

- In the Hypervisor environment set the power options on High Performance;

- Active Directory Domain Services is not supported on the same server;

- Please remove the shutdown option in the Start Menu

o Boltrics should still be able to restart the server using PowerShell or Command

Prompt;

Dynamics 365 Business Central Server

- The Application Servers should be used for Dynamics 365 Business Central Server only;

Storage

- Please create a file-share for documents (not on the SQL or Dynamics 365 Business Central

Server);

Check your work

- Download the Check Server Installation from https://www.boltrics.nl/downloads-bc-18/ ;

- Run the PowerShell Script as Administrator;

- Follow the wizard and complete check list without an error;

SQL Server Installation Instructions

- Download the software via the https://www.boltrics.nl/downloads-bc-18/

- Extract the .ZIP file and open the .ISO file.

SQL Installation checklist

Access

- User <DOMAIN>\Boltrics should be sysadmin on the SQL-server;

- Firewall port 1433 must be open for SQL communication (for application servers).

Updates

- Updated with a recent cumulative update.

- Install the latest SQL Server Management Studio on the Application Server(s) and SQL Server

Virus Scanning

- Please check the SQL Server exclusion list here.

Performance

- Lack of proper maintenance will cause performance problems;

Customer Responsibility’s

- Setup and management of the maintenance plans

- SQL Database Backup

- Index optimizations

- Rebuilding indexes

- Use a linear grow of 1 GB of the Db’s, starting from 4GB for DATA and 2GB for LOG.

IMPORTANT: Data file and log file configuration

Auto-growth of the database and/or transaction log files in production can degrade

performance as all transaction must queue up and wait for SQL Server to grow the file before

it can begin to process transactions again. This can create bottlenecks. We strongly

recommend growing data and log files during off-peak periods and by 10% to 25% of the

current size. We do not recommend disabling “Auto-Grow”, as in an emergency it is still

better to have SQL Server to auto-grow files than to run out of disk space and bring the

database down.
