As conveyor manufacturers, we have definitely seen a trend in packaging materials getting lighter, smaller and numerous one-serving packs hitting the market. In the upper mid-west area that I cover, I’ve seen CPGs from beverage manufacturers to packaged food producers who have challenges handling new packages and needing help to make their production lines work with multiple sizes of the increasing smaller and lighter packages.

At our booth at Pack Expo show in Las Vegas, we also noticed an increase in Food Manufacturers representatives doing a lot of research on food safety with regards to sanitary conveyor equipment.

I think that manufacturers need to choose the distribution channel that best fits their business plan for their product. There are certainly advantages and disadvantages to both.

As a conveyor manufacturer, we have integrated with several different makes and models of case erectors and packers, like Acme and XYZ company. It will depend on volumes as well as your purchase budget though.
