Planning a wedding is very hard and it is very easy for costs to spiral out of control.

More people get divorced from money problems than they do from infidelity.

Shop Around

Make a wedding budget.

Try and figure out how much things need to cost to stay

within the budget.

First check local products and their prices.

Also use the internet and find vendors that offer products

cheaper (you will usually find some).

Bookmark the cheapest ones for later.

Open a Savings Account

Get an idea of how much the wedding will cost.

Open a savings account prior to the wedding (when getting

engaged or around 1-2 years before the wedding).

Deposit a small amount each month until the wedding.

Wedding and maybe honeymoon are now paid for.

Get Discounts

Always be on the lookout for discounts.

Subscribe to newsletters and social media (discounts will

most likely be posted here).

Ask for discounts (you have nothing to lose but could end up

getting a nice discount).

Pretend you have different offers and most vendors will

ultimately offer a discount.

Manage the little things

The little things tend to stack up until they go way out of

control.

Even the weight of the invitations and their decorations

could mean huge posting fees.

Make a budget for all these little things and make sure you

never go beyond it.

Chronic Over-spender ?

If keeping a tight budget isn’t enough, consider getting a

debit card.

Load the debit card with your planned budget.

This way you don’t have to worry about going overboard.

It is important though to prioritize and make sure you get the

important things first just in case.

Expect the Unexpected

In every plan, you must leave a margin for error.

It is always a good idea to set aside some money (1000$) for

emergency situations.

If you don’t need them then you will start your married life

with a little extra.

Prioritize

Rank all of your items based on priority and importance.

If you are approaching the end budget, look at the lowest

ranking items and see if you can live without them.

Do it Yourself

Most of the things for a wedding can be done manually in

order to save a lot of money.

Invitations, decorations and even the cake can potentially be

done by you or your families.

Doing it yourselves can also be a great chance to have fun

and bond (with your fiancé's family).

Remember what counts

Everybody dreams of the perfect wedding, but not

everybody can afford a 5000$ dress or a 4000$ floral

decoration.

A wedding means the start of a new era with the one you

love, not the party itself that lasts a few hours.
