HOW TO OUTLINE AND GET STARTED WITH YOUR ONLINE COURSE OR LIVE WORKSHOP
Bonus
2
‣ Getting started is half the battle. I am going to share some tips from my own online course creation experience to give you an insider’s view.
‣ Think of this bonus as your big picture view of what needs to be decided and what actions need to be taken to get moving in the right direction.
‣ We will explore both pre-recorded online courses and live workshops.
What You Will Discover
3
‣ Do you want to do all the work up front or would you rather sell it first?
‣ Do you want to test the waters a bit before you do all the work?
‣ Can you wait until the program is completed before you launch or do you need the revenue now?
‣ Can you invest in creating the program now or do you need some extra revenue to actually help with creating the course?
‣ Are you open to the added stress a live workshop will create?
The Golden Questions

CREATING AN ONLINE COURSEGETTING STARTED
5
GET CLEAR ON YOUR COURSE TOPIC
6
Course Topic
What’s the #1 question you get asked all the time? When people hear about your expertise, what do they always want to know more about? The answer to this question is a great place to start in terms of creating a
course around your customer’s biggest challenges.
7
Course Topic
What results have you gotten for yourself or others? When deciding on your course topic, pull from your own successes. What are some big results you’ve created for
yourself that you can teach others? Also look at the successes you’ve helped others achieve as well. These
wins make a great foundation for your online course.

DECIDE ON YOUR COURSE OUTLINE
9
Course Outline
Before I start to create my course, I spend some solid time working on my outline. In this outline I include the
modules, the lessons and the bonuses. I also take note on special cheat sheets and checklists. This helps me see the flow of the content and helps me
identify any areas I might have overlooked.
10
Course Outline
What additional modalities can I include to better support my students?
When I create a course, I also include transcripts and audio files because I know everyone learns
in different ways. This extra effort goes a long way with my students.
11
Course Outline
Will cheat sheets, guides and/or checklists add to my students’ experience?
Although it’s not necessary, you might want to consider adding extra support materials to your course.
Sometimes I use worksheets and checklists to help my students to easily navigate through my content and
help them put the training in action.
12
Course Outline
What extras will WOW my students? Once you have a solid outline in place, it’s time to have a
little fun and brainstorm some WOW factors for your course. This is when you might want to add some bonuses to your program, live Q&A sessions, a private Facebook group, etc.
The WOW components turn a first-time student into a raving fan who tells all their friends about your amazing course!
13
Hot Insider’s Tip
Create ALL your slide decks before you record. From there, calendar out a few days for you to record
everything for the course. Doing it this way allows you to streamline ALL the content before it’s recorded.

CREATING A LIVE WORKSHOPGETTING STARTED
18
‣ What’s the #1 question you get asked all the time?
‣ What results have you gotten for yourself or others?
‣ What does your audience really need and want from you?
Live Workshop Course Topic
19
‣ Your outline might be a bit more loose than a recorded course outline, but push yourself to flesh this out as much as possible.
‣ You will need a solid outline so that you can promote it with specifics. While on your free webinar, you need to be able to provide your audience with what’s included in your paid live workshop. You also need your course outline to be solid so that you can create your follow up emails!
‣ You can tweak your outline as you deliver the content week after week - and this is a good thing because you should be getting feedback from your paid members so you deliver to them exactly what they want!
Live Workshop Course Outline
20
‣ Even though you are delivering your content live, week after week, you still need a place to house the recordings of your session after you’ve done each one live.
‣ This step is paramount and it separates the “so-so” marketers from those that are trusted, admired and respected. Don’t skimp here!
‣ Communication is EVEN MORE important for those delivering live workshops vs those that sell a pre-recorded course. Your paid members paid you and likely don’t have any content from you yet. STAY IN TOUCH WITH THEM A LOT!

Hot Insider’s Tip
Make sure you have two recordings going on. The backup will save you from any tech issues
that might come up!
22
Hot Insider’s Tip
After each live session, email your members and ask for feedback. Did they have anymore questions about
today’s topic? Was there something more they were hoping to learn? Did they have any special requests?
Where might they be stuck? This feedback is invaluable at this point in your course creation journey!

COURSE CREATION TIPSINSIDER’S VIEW
24
CONSIDER ADDING SOME SIGNATURE SLIDES TO ENGAGE YOUR AUDIENCE AND SET EXPECTATIONS. THESE SIGNATURE SLIDES ALSO MAKE YOUR PROGRAM SPECIAL AND HELP WITH THE FLOW!
25
CHECK OUT A FEW DIFFERENT MEMBERS AREAS BEFORE DECIDING ON YOURS. HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THE PERSON WHO WILL BE CREATING YOUR MEMBERSHIP SITE AND GET CLEAR ON THE NAVIGATION IN ADVANCE. ALSO TALK TO YOUR MEMBERS AREA CONTRACTOR ABOUT THE IMAGES THAT WILL BE NEEDED - GETTING AHEAD OF THIS CAUSES LESS STRESS IN THE PROCESS.
26
ONCE THE COURSE IS FINISHED, UPDATE YOUR OUTLINE TO MAKE SURE IT’S NOW ACCURATE. THIS OUTLINE WILL BE A HELPFUL TOOL WHEN YOU DECIDE TO UPDATE THE PROGRAM OR EXPAND YOUR PRODUCT SUITE.
27
04I LOVE ADDING AN “ONBOARDING SEQUENCE” TO ALL MY PROGRAMS. THIS ALLOWS YOU TO CONNECT EVEN DEEPER WITH YOUR NEW MEMBERS AND IT HELPS THEM STAY MOTIVATED AND ON TRACK.
