how to make it in media planning - tom brady edition

Be Responsive
Whether you have the answer immediately or not, always respond to clients, vendors and your manager, so they know you received their request. It is an easy way to show you are on top of things, and to be honest it can buy you some more =me if you need it.
Build Strong Rela7onships
Outside of the obvious vendor and client rela=onships, build strong rela=onships
with your peers and the folks you work with on a day to day basis. You may not always
see eye to eye, but strong internal rela=onships create less drama, and build a
strong cohesive work environment.
Be Visible You do not have to climb on top of a mountain and shout every =me you do something well, but you should make sure that people are aware of the progress that you are making. An easy way to do this is to keep your manager cc’d. In addi=on it is
important to be seen (physically). Take laps around the office and say hi to everyone you pass, to make your presence felt. Make sure everyone knows your name, even if you can’t remember
theirs.
“Ask for forgiveness, don’t ask for permission”
There will be =mes when an email comes through asking for an immediate answer, and your manager will not be around. Use your gut and all the knowledge you have obtained to date and make a decision.
Have a healthy serving of Chill Snacks
As you already know, we are not saving lives. Yes days can be intense, but never forget to take a CHILL SNACK and focus your =me on
geNng things done vs. was=ng =me worrying about what needs to get done!
Never Stop Learning
We work in online media. Things change every day. Keep up with the trends. Follow
every outlet on TwiQer, subscribe to newsleQers, and pick the brains of the publisher partners that you work with.
Share the Wealth
As you hear and learn about new things related to the industry or your specific
campaigns, spread the love to your team by sending mass emails. Become the go to
person for everything.
Be Resourceful
Things are not black and white, especially in our business. Make sure to use all the tools that you have in order to produce quality
deliverables
Set Clear Expecta7ons
Know what you are capable of in the =me you are capable of doing it. If anything, when dealing with clients, follow the cliché
“Under promise and over deliver”. If you are not going to work with a publisher
partner, be upfront, you don’t want to burn bridges by leading them on.
