This is a guide about that will help you to build an Internship Recognition step by step and

what to be careful.

Basic Information about Recognitions

Before I present you the steps about how to build an Internship Recognition, you should

know some facts about them.

To build an Internship Recognition, you have to cooperate with practice office ONLY.

Each University Department, has its own practice office, so you have to cooperate

with each of them individually.

There are specific conditions for every internship to be recognized from University,

and each recognition has different ones.

You don’t need a contract to build Internship recognition because they pass through

University Department’s General Meetings.

The time an Internship Recognition needs depends on when is the next University

department’s General Meeting.

Each Department, has its own conditions about what can be recognized from

University.

Preparation before starting

First of all, you need to do research in order to know exactly each University Department’s

exact object of studies and what they can do after they graduate. This can help you to have

relevance with each Department and understand if it’s worthy to have recognition there.

Then, you have to find out which are the Recognition Conditions of each department in

order to know if you are able to get recognition for the program you want. There are some

departments who can’t recognize GCDP programs because of the Job Description.

After that, you MUST know exactly your products and which the benefits of each program

for every department are. That way, you can be relevant to them and show them that they

need you as much as you need them.

Also, you should get to know which is in Charge of Internships in the Practice office (which

professor and which employee).

Finally, find out when is the next Department’s general meeting.

Starting the Procedure

There are a number of standard steps you should take in order to build an Internship

Recognition.

First, you need to make an appointment with those who are in charge of Internship

(professor and employee) in order to explain them what is AIESEC and what we are doing (if

they don’t know) and present them your programs. After you do that, if you see that they

are interested, propose a cooperation between you and them and about the recognition.

Send them an e-mail, explaining them in details what are the benefits of the existence of this

Recognition for the students and them.

When you do that, there will be a really long waiting about the next University Department’s

General meeting. During this time, you need to communicating with them constantly,

informing them about changes or updates on the programs.

Finally, the general meeting is going to take place where it will be decided if there is going to

be an Internship Recognition or not.

Tips, Tricks and Common Facts

There are some conditions that exist in every Internship Recognition you will get. These are:

Internship should be in the Summer, so there will not be any interference in

students’ studies

Internship Job Description should be relevant to object of studies

After the internship, students should compose an essay about their internship

AIESEC, will hand in a certificate about internship

Now, some tips about to make Internship Recognition successful!

If you convince Practice office to support you in the recognition, there is a really high chance

that you will get it.

Also, if you have a good relation with University’s teachers, they are going to support you in

the general meeting as much as they can.

You can engage more professors in your recognition procedure, so you will get tips from

them and they will help build an even better cooperation with practice office and support

you if there is any problem.

The duration of internship is really important. It’s easier to get an Internship Recognition if

the duration of Internship is similar to University’s Internships. If it’s longer, they may decide

that they can’t recognize it because there is much difference between two program’s

durations.

Take a note of questions they usually make you and questions you think they will ask you.

That way, you will be better prepared if they ask you anything about organization and

programs.

Through this cooperation, you can arrange it so they (professors and practice office) will also

be a part of integration of intern about internship, and help us find partners about that if

they can’t do it.

You can attend the General Meeting. If you do, you can support your proposal better.

What we should be aware of

There are some points which we should be REALLY careful about.

First of all, we need not to leave blanks in our answers. We have to be clear about what we

offer and what we ask them.

Also, we have to start this procedure from the lowest layer of employees. That way, we will

have more chances of our proposal to be accepted (for example, if we go for the Internship

Recognition to the Dean and say no, then there is no way we can get any Recognition in any

department).

Then, we have to be careful about our brand. We need to show them that we are students

(and not businessmen) that want to get something more than just a degree.

Finally, we need to show professors and employees that we need them but with dignity so

they will help us, and we have to push them a little about what we ask them to do because if

we don’t, in most cases they will not do it.
