WHAT IS OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE

People mostly thinks Open Source Software all about

free to use software's. But actually an Open Source

Software is a software that a user can use for free and

have the ability to view and modify the source code to

fit His/her need. And can even be redistributed based

on the licenses of the project.

SOME BENEFITS OF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE

Freedom: People and Organization use open

source software so they can actually free themselves

from the limits of proprietary software

Security: Open source software enables anyone to

analyze the software for security weakness.

Open Source Software Used

During this research I have used an Open Source

Software Which is Kali Linux v.2.0 which can be

located at http://www.kali.org,

Kali Linux is an open source project that is

maintained and funded by Offensive Security, a

provider of world-class information security

training and penetration testing services.

Problem Identified with Kali Linux.

I have encountered some problems with after installation,

While Trying to Upgrade.

“ E: Failed to fetch

https://kali.org/kali/pool/main/w/webshells_1.1.0-

kali0_all.deb Size mismatched.

E: Unable to fetch some achieves, maybe run, apt-get upgrade

or try with –fix-missing”

REPORTING PROBLEM TO KALI’S BUG TRACKER

How the problem was solved.

CONCLUSION

As the researcher I will say Open Source is not

just only free to use but also interesting. Because

Open source projects allows people to do

collaborative work. which features many people from

all over the world, (developers, debuggers, graphic

designers etc.) contributing and working on the same

project voluntarily.

Thank You!
