How to install EWS4 Reader/Writer hardware

1. Use PC with installed Windows XP SP1/SP2/SP3 2. Connect Reader via USB cable 3. Run DPD_V50 software from CD or link we gave you 4. Twice click on application file

5.Press Next>

6. Enter “User Name” and company name in “Corporation” fields and press Next>.

7. Software shows you installation path. Press Next>

8. Press “Install” .

9. Wait till software installed successfully.

10. Press “Finish” to complete successful install. .

11. Connect Reader to PC using USB cable. 12. Wait for driver install window. Choose “Yes, this time only” Press Next>

13. Mark “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” menu point. Press Next>

14. Wait for driver installed successfully.

15. Press “Finish” to complete setup.

16. Wait for the second driver install window. Choose “Yes, this time only”. Press Next>

17. Mark “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” menu point. Press Next>

18. Wait for driver installed successfully.

19. Press “Finish” to complete setup. .

Hardware preparation

1. Remove EWS4 from the car. Remove circuit board from EWS4 box. 2. Take BDM cable. Prepare contacts applying some solder. Solder BDM cable to the

EWS4 board according color scheme.

3. Connect BDM adapter to the Reader: BDM adapter 2х8 (16pin) to Reader 2х8 (16pin)

and BDM adapter 2x13 (26pin) to the Reader 2x13 (26pin).

4. Connect BDM cable to BDM adapter. Marks on board and cable should match each

other.

5. Connect Reader to PC via USB cable.

Use of software

1. Press “Start” > “Programs” > “Device Programmer Desktop”> “Device Programmer Desktop”.

2. Wait for software startup.

3. Press “Options” > “Environment…”

Choose “Ports” and point to appropriate USB port, then press “ОК”.

4. Press “Device” button.

5. In the opened window choose the following tabs :

1. “Type” – MCU/MPU 2. “Type” below – Motorola HC(S)12-secured 3. “Device” – MC9S12-EEPROM-secured 4. Press “ОК”.

6. Press “New” button.

Wait for new project opened. Press “Read”. You will see reading status in the opened window.

Press “Save”

Save read dump as(for example) “ EWS4_VIN.bin”.

7. Connect EWS Editor to USB, run EWS Editor software, press “Load bin” button and choose saved file in the opened window.
