how to hack your hackathons: triposo's sxsw 2013 solo presentation proposal
DESCRIPTION
Are your hackathons boring? Do they consist of dark rooms with glassy-eyed coders scarfing pizza and hacking on crazy dead-end ideas? There’s a better way. As a travel-tech company with developers across the globe, we’ve found one of the best methods for sparking creativity is to hold hackathons in unique locations. We’ve done them while surfing the Canary Islands and hunting for the Loch Ness monster. This fall, we’re gearing up to hold one in... a moving bus. Sound crazy? Don’t worry; there’s a method to our madness. Emerging research says that we’re more creative in unfamiliar surroundings, and that happy, bonded teams are more innovative. In this talk, we’ll explore recent science on creativity, share lessons learned and provide actionable tips for effective team-building and creative problem-solving through hackathons -- at home or abroad.TRANSCRIPT
