How to Get the Most Out of Your Exercise Bike Many individuals desire to have a fit and healthy body. That
is a fairly common wish and is indisputably a good thing to
want.
Healthier bodies have all sorts of positive effect on
individuals but the prevailing culture dictates that this is
done in the simplest and quickest way possible. So the
search for the quick and easy way to get healthy continues.
Continue Through the Hard Times But for all of those who have not found this out for
yourselves yet, the simple and easy way to get fit and healthy
never be found because that is not the way it works!
Continued work and effort with a determination on the part of the person who desires to become
and remain fit and healthy is the only way to accomplish this.
Luckily, however, our capitalistic society has driven a massive multi-billion dollar health
exercise industry that has developed effective equipment and tools that will enable the driven
person to exercise effectively and efficiently. One such tool of exercise is the ever stable and
reliable fitness or exercise bike.
Exercise bikes are used to promote the cardio vascular system of the human body. Proper cardio
health promotes overall fitness as a person’s ability to exercise longer and burn more calories is a
direct result of a strong and healthy cardio system.
Exercise bikes simulate the same, or often better, exercise that a person would get by riding their
street bikes down the road from the comfort of your own home or local gym. As with any tool or
piece of equipment, knowing how to properly use your exercise bike will yield the best results to
your overall health.
Make the Bike Work for You The first step in properly utilizing your
exercise bike is to make the appropriate
adjustments to the bike. Most, if not all,
exercise bikes will have adjustable seats,
handlebars, and pedals.
Each of these items should be adjusted to
your specific specifications that will allow
for the most effective use of the bike. The
seat should be adjusted up or down to where
your legs come to a position just short of
locking at the knee to allow for full
extension without the constant wear of locking the joint.
The handle bars of the bike should be similarly adjusted to allow for a slight bend in the elbows
to support you while riding. Pedals will be able to move in or out according to the comfort of the
rider and their straps should be tightly secured to the riders’ feet as to promote leg muscle use
both up and down during the cyclical process.
Along with adjusting the equipment in order to get the most out of your exercise bike is the
importance of posture. Posture is vital when performing any form of exercise including riding a
fitness bike.
Slouching over the handle bars of the bike will cause excessive pressure and strain to be put on
the lower back and hips of the rider. Maintain an upright posture while riding to promote all
around fitness in the body.
