    21/25

Before you can add an image, you have to need to upload it first on the Cultural Heritage Connec3ons

pla9orm. Click in the le menu on Toolbox and than Upload file.

Note: you need to be logged in order to upload a file.

1 : Browse for your file (png, gif, jpg, ico, doc or pdf). Your file must not be more than 2 MB.

Note: It is not possible for every user to delete files (not even your own), only the administrator has the

rights for this. So please check yourself that you have selected the right file to upload.

2 : Write here how you want to name your file, including the extension (e.g. .jpg or .pdf). Please give this a

unique and descrip3ve 3tle, and avoid the use of only numbers (like pictures oen get when they have

    been downloaded from the camera).

: Write here a short descrip3on. This is par3cularly convenient for others who look at your file. This is not

mandatory, but it is, however, highly appreciated.

4 : Tick the box if you want to be kept no3fied whenever someone is upda3ng your file.

5 : Tick the box if you want to be no3fied when the file you want to upload already exists in the pla9orm. Ifyou do not 3ck the box, your file will be uploaded regardless of other files that have the same name.

    And click on Upload file.

Once you have uploaded your file, you will see a page similar to this.

When the file has been used in a page, you can see this under File Link.

If, at a later 3me, you have an newer version of the file, which you want to use instead of the older

version: go to your file (you can always look it up in the Uploaded files, in the le menu). Click on

Upload a new version of this file. You will be redirected to the upload page.

    22

  • 7/31/2019 How to Get Started in the Cultural Heritage Connections

    23/25

You do not have to rename the newer version of your file. The pages that the file was linked with, will now

    show the newer version.

! The new version has to have the same extension; therefore it needs to be the same type of file (jpg,or doc, etc.). If the new version is a different kind of file you will need to upload it as a new file. When it is a

new file (and it has therefore a different name) you will need to change the synopsises in the pages that

    show the image.

    .

    24/25

Now that you have uploaded your file on the pla9orm, you can add the file in the various pages

    of the pla9orm.

When you Edit with form you can easily insert a photo image on your expert, project, or

organisa3on page. Just choose the right file from the drop down menu that will appear as soon

    as you start typing.

    Insert images

Once you have familiarised yourself with working in the Cultural Heritage Connec3ons, you might

want to insert images and links in your text. This is done with the help of syntaxes (some sort ofcommands wriRen in a wikiformat) inserted in the wikitext.

If you want more informa3on on how to insert files, and links please go to the Cultural Heritage

    Connec3ons Help page:hRp://www.culturalheritageconnec3ons.org /wiki/Help:Contents
